Make-A-List Monday - Exciting Times!

Hi, all!

It's hard to believe another week is already gone!  I don't know about you, but I made good use of the cold weather when the polar vortex hit.  It was a great excuse to stay inside and sew!  And with the Sweet Sixteen Quilt Along starting and the Hands2Help Challenge on the horizon, there's a lot of exciting things going on!  So let's see how I did on last week's list...

1.  Work on the quilt-along blogposts.
Started - although this is going to be an ongoing process for the next nine weeks, unless I get really ambitious and write a bunch of them ahead of time!  You can see the first of the posts here - it's just starting, so there's plenty of time to join in!!

2.  Work on the quilt-along quilts.
Done - or at least, in progress!  This is another thing that will be ongoing for the next nine weeks.  Here's a couple of teasers of what I've been working on…

3.  Prepare for a class on HSTs for the quilt ministry members this Saturday.
Done!  We had a great class, and it was lots of fun to see several people jump right into making some HST blocks after we finished!

4.  Keep working on those scrap tubs!
Well, I've been digging into them for project materials - does that count?

5.  Quilt a couple of quilts for the ministry.
I didn't have a chance to quilt any tops this week, but I did put the binding on one.  It's the purple one down below.

6.  Mail some quilts to out-of-town quilt recipients.
Done!  It sure was a hassle getting to the post office this week with the cold weather - usually it's no problem but I really didn't want to take Emmy out unnecessarily.  At least I got them all mailed at the same time instead of making more than one trip!

7.  Create this year's H2H button (while I still remember how to make it work!)
Done!  Woohoo!  You can grab the HTML code to put it on your own blog in the right side bar.

8.  Start working on more quilts for another adoption fundraiser.
Done!  Killing two birds with one stone, the sample quilts I'm making for the Sweet Sixteen quilt along will also be raffled off to raise money to help #bringNathanaelhome!

9.  Keep up with all quilt ministry needs that arise.
Done!  We gave away quite a few quilts this week…

This tactile quilt went to Baby Charley, who became blind after surgery to remove a brain tumor.  You can read more about it here.

This quilt was given to an elderly lady in hospice care...

This lovely scrappy quilt, pieced and quilted by Rita, was sent to a woman battling cancer in Alaska...

Another scrappy wonder by Rita!  This one was given to an elderly woman in Florida who broke her hip; she's currently in rehab.

This pretty quilt, made by Deborah, was given to an elderly lady in our church who is experiencing an extended stay in the hospital due to various health issues.

This lovely quilt, made with paper pieced blocks donated to us by Sharon, is being given to a woman who unexpectedly lost her husband of 43 years recently.

And this quilt is going to a woman in Ohio who has been diagnosed with breast cancer after being treated for uterine cancer.

Okay - not too bad, although some things changed during the week.  Let's see what's on tap for this week…

1.  Quilt two of the sample quilts.

2.  Start working on the third quilt along sample quilt.

3. Quilt two quilts for the quilt ministry.

4.  Write at least one and preferably two quilt along posts.

5.  Keep working on the scrap tubs.

6.  Keep up with all quilt ministry needs that come up this week.

Hopefully I can get to all of this, especially quilting some tops for the quilt ministry.  It's been too long since I did that regularly - I've been relying on Rita too much and it's time to help shoulder the load!

By the way, I really appreciate that you all keep me accountable on my week's to-do's - I would just fritter my day away without this weekly post!

So now, the question is - - - what are YOU working on this week?

Hugs!

Sarah

  2. Lovely, lovely quilts! What joy and comfort they will bring. I am playing with scraps for lots of bow-tie blocks.

  3. I just got my scraps organized and have been pulling some for Sweet 16! I wish you had been in the quilt ministry I joined at a former church. The ladies that "ran" it were like drill sergeants. Lol!
I am late to the party on H2H but am interested in it - is there a post you could direct me to that would explain it?

  4. I'm trying to finish off the little pink white and green quilt I started about 2 years ago for my newest grandgirl - turning 1 within weeks. Where does the time go? (Spent a few of hours this morning trying to get my Flickr picture to be acceptable to the blogger it should have gone to.... GRRRR! Why is computereese so difficult.) Such a waste of time.
You are doing great on your list. Love your pictures. How wonderful Sharon's donation blocks. I made a couple of those patterns for my daughter in law's quilt. Sharon's look great the way they are set. You all do such good works. It's so inspiring. Thank you for sharing.
    Hugs

  5. Even though I haven't sewn in 3 months, just reading your post makes me feel as though I am accomplishing something.

  6. I'm working on a pattern for a B3Quilt for my guild. I'm presenting a new pattern for a baby quilt each month. Got the first two months done. Will have to keep ahead. I'm also working on 3 WIPs I want to complete as part of my goal to make some WIPs Be Gone from my sewing area.
