Can I Get a Whoop Whoop? A Long-Awaited Finish!

Hi, all!

It's finally Friday again and as usual, that means it's time for us to get our whoop whoop on!!  I'm so excited, because I have a honest-to-goodness finish to share - so let's get started!!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

If you're new to my blog, you may not know that every year when we go to the beach for vacation, I usually take at least one sewing project and my sewing machine with me.  I've been doing this for several years now, and it's a fun time to work on something just for me.  Usually I get a quilt pretty close to finished on vacation, and throw it on the frame when I get home - but this pretty quilt unfortunately sat and languished last year because I was too busy to finish it off.

I had pieced all sixteen blocks, but still needed to assemble the top with the sashing and cornerstones.  This week I needed a little "me sewing" so I pulled this out and spent a couple of happy hours putting the top together.

After first shopping my stash and failing to find anything that pleased me, I hopped in the car and headed up to Joann's for a quilt back.  And wonder of wonders, I found something absolutely perfect - I am truly in love with this beautiful red print!

Binding and one of my labels, and this quilt is in the books!  I'm loving its cheerful colors and bold design - it all makes me smile!  For the record, the front is made with a Salt Air jelly roll and Kona Snow, with a bit of copper solid that was in my stash.  The pattern is "Grateful" by For The Love of Fabric.

So - - - can I get a whoop whoop?

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

And now it's your turn!

What's got you whooping it up this week?

What's making you do a little happy dance?

Share!  We want to dance right along with you!

And it's always more fun to dance with friends!

The party will stay open until Sunday midnight.

Hope to see you there!

Hugs!

Sarah

  1. Oh my gosh, Sarah, I love your quilt! And I can't believe the coincidence with my life. I also started a project last summer on vacation (my parents cabin in the Poconos), using the exact same fabric collection and it didn't quite get finished. I finally pulled it out yesterday and finished the top. Now I need backing and also have nothing in my large stash (the colors are little different) so I'm going to Joann's Saturday. Guess what fabric I'll be looking for?

  3. Sarah, this is the year for resurrecting those lovely quilts left behind. This one needed a finish! While I love me a scrappy quilt, I have to remark how well it flows with the QST centers and the coppery little dot all matching. Here's a case for matchy-matchy, and I don't say that often, you know. Please tell me this is your personal quilt for once.

  11. So pretty, and your quilting really enhances it. And your backing is perfect. I wonder if scraps of that red paisley will make their way in to something else? Sure is a pretty print!

  13. Sarah that is a lovely finish. I like that backing fabric too. Was it one of their wide backs?

  14. I love your quilt. The more I quilt, the more I realize that I love scrappy quilts even controlled scrappy. I linked my latest surprise from Tu-Na Helper. He's really outdone himself this year. Thanks for all the work you do hosting this weekly party. It's always fun to see who shows up.
