Make-A-List Monday - When It Rains....

Hi, all!

Wow, has it been a week! Isn't it amazing how things conspire to make you busy even during the slow times?  Let's check out last week's list and you can see what I mean.....

1.  Paint the kitchen ceiling and crown molding.
(Gotta put this on the list because it really needs to be done!)
It's done - finally!  The ceiling took two trips to Lowe's and two coats of paint...

...and then I realized, after painting the crown molding, that I should have caulked up by the ceiling before I painted!  So this morning (after another trip to Lowe's) I caulked all around the room.  Looks great and I don't think I'll have to paint again!

Look out walls, you're next!

2.  Start piecing a Kitchen Sink quilt.
Well begun is half done, right?  Well, maybe not half done (I'm hoping to make this one a king-size) but I do have nine blocks made and sewn together!

3.  Start working on Lilli's annual quilt.
Started!  I had some "Jack the Ripper" moments with this one - the seam allowance is tricky - but I did manage to get a big pile of the "H" blocks put together (more than are shown here) and the corner blocks, too!

4.  Meet with a customer about a memory quilt commission.
And here's where the title of today's post will make sense.  After meeting with the customer and her daughter, we finalized a commission for FIVE memory quilts and TWO pillows!  I've already started deconstructing shirts, but that doesn't make for very pretty pictures, so hopefully I'll be a little further along next week!

5.  Quilt a couple of tops for the quilt ministry.
Between the extra work on the kitchen painting and the new commission work, I didn't get to this.  Bad quilter!

6.  Keep up with any quilt ministry needs that come up.
It was a quiet week, no requests.

So I certainly have my work cut out for me!  Here's what I hope to get to this week...

1.  Keep working on the Kitchen Sink quilt.

2.  Keep working on Lilli's annual quilt.

3.  Cut the blocks and put together a golf shirt memory quilt.

4.  Make two memory pillow covers.

5.  Deconstruct a bunch of denim shirts for another two memory quilts.

6.  Try to quilt two tops for the quilt ministry.

7.  Start painting the kitchen/dining room.

8.  Keep up with any ministry needs that come up.

Definitely enough to keep me out of trouble!  Plus I'm taking the littles to the park tomorrow on the last day before they go back to school full time - summer is over!  But hopefully that means a little more sewing time - which it looks like I'll be needing....

So now the question is - - - what are YOU working on this week?

Hugs!

Sarah

    1. Darlene, I'm answering here because you are a no-reply blogger. Jamie Elfert came up with the Kitchen Sink quilt - here's a link to her version that was my inspiration... https://babyboomerquiltingbee.blogspot.com/2018/05/scrap-control-update.html

  4. God knew you were busy, so, he didn't send any quilt needs to the church.

  5. You kind of amaze me with all you get done! I got some blocks sewn together and then decided to make the quilt bigger so I'm sewing more :-) Tried to fix a washer ourselves but couldn't get the part on so called a repair guy...he couldn't either! So we're shopping for a new one which was probably needed anyway. The current one apparently lasted well past it's life expectancy.
Your house is going to look so pretty!

  7. Hi Sarah, I am trying to find a link to the Summer Wedding pattern and can't find it. Can you help point me in the right direction? I want to make one for my daughter! It is beautiful! Thank you. Can';t wait to see Lilly's when it is done!!!

  8. I've been doing lots of quilting these days.....well since the weekend at any rate now that I've got my long arm setup again for the first time in 3 yrs....yippee. Two quilts quilted and the third (this years row-by-row) is now on the frame. Once this one is finished (hoping tonite to have that done) then it's on to binding the three and getting the next couple of quilts (ones to be sold) quilted. =)

  9. Your Kitchen Sink kaleidoscope looks so great so far! It got me thinking about that block and I stitched up a small charity top of scrappy rainbow color wheels. Mine isn't nearly as flat and even as yours, but is still fun :)

  10. After an 8 year wait from when it began, I got back to piecing scrappy log cabin blocks. In the intervening years I've cut strips for it, one each from my 1800's reprints purchases. So, I've got LOTS of strips to play with. I got 24 blocks made... have to take a break about once an hour and straighten up my aching back! Otherwise I'd get more done.
