Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? Some Fall Fun...

Hi, all!

This week has just flown by (kind of like the leaves I am starting to see fluttering by my windows) and that means, because it's Friday, it's time for us to get our whoop whoop on!!  Are you ready?  Let's get started!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

Let's start with the quilt-y finish first, shall we?  I have to say, it's really nice to have an honest-to-gosh finish again!

This week I quilted the first of the memory tops!  This one is made from golf shirts. As you can see in the picture below, the logos from the shirts are fussy cut and arranged in the center of the quilt.

The pieces are backed with woven interfacing, just like a t-shirt quilt, and pieced together.  Cross-hatch quilting on my tabletop machine and a machine sewn binding finished it off!  Woohoo!!

And then today I did a little crafty thing with the kiddos - we decorated pumpkins for fall!

Of course, Nathanael's had to be green (his favorite color) and after putting a funny face on it, he told me it was him!  He even drew on little cochlear implants....

Emmy also did an "Emmy" pumpkin - hers had long yellow and orange hair that she put up in a ponytail, and glitter leaf earrings.  I'm not sure what the strips of raffia tied around the pumpkin represent, but they were VERY important!

Lilliana went for artfully sophisticated - her pumpkin has "cobwebs" made of raffia loops, and a spider climbing up the side!

And FYI, I found the best price on the artificial pumpkins at Kroger, of all places!  These were $5 apiece, compared to $15-$20 each everywhere else I could find them.  Way to go, Kroger!

So - - - can I get a whoop whoop??

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

And now it's your turn!

What's got you whooping it up this week?

What's making you do a little happy dance?

Share!  We want to dance right along with you,

And it's always more fun to dance with friends!

The party will stay open until Sunday midnight.

Hope to see you there!

Hugs!

Sarah

  1. Fabulous idea making a quilt out of golf shirt patches with the logos. This quilt is fun and colourful. It looks as if lots of craft fun was going on at your place this week.

  2. This is really a neat quilt idea, Sarah. I can see the potential of using any embroidered logo from a shirt now to add a dash of sparkle. And, may I say, I just love the masculine colors. You shot a hole in one, my friend!

  5. Congrats on your finished quilt. Fussy-cutting the golf shirt logos is a really neat idea. But what I'm MOST happy to see in this post are the painted pumpkins! I cherish the memories of those family craft sessions. Those days whiz by in a heartbeat and before you know it they are busy teenagers who don't have time to paint pumpkins with Mom anymore... :-)

  12. The quilt is wonderful. Great memories for the family, I am sure. What a great memory maker with the grands! I used to shop at Kroger when I lived in the Eastern part of the US and loved it. We don't have Kroger near here in OK. I need to get some foam pumpkins on hand for when my semi-local grands pop in again soon. Lately, they haven't been here long enough for a project. My oldest grandson comes to see his mom every other weekend and then my son picks him up. They try to see me or my son's dad on alternating pickups, so that's once a month and I try to have supper for them and then they have a trip back to Arkansas for school the next day. Hopefully, they'll be moving back within a year or so. Life is hectic. Thanks for sharing the quilt and the wonderful fun!

  13. I really like that you cut smaller squares of the shirts to make a more traditional one-patch quilt.
Your kiddos are so cute! Great way to spend an afternoon. I may steal your idea if I can find such good pricing on pumpkins.
