Make-A-List Monday - Something Different!

Hi, all!

Monday has arrived, and this week will be different for me - I get to go meet some old blog friends, and make some new ones, this weekend!  Which makes for a short week for regular stuff, but I'm so excited to get some new inspiration away from home.

First, though, let's see how last week's list went...

1.  Write the tutorial for Wednesday's post (and pick a winner for the giveaway from 2 weeks ago!)
Done!  If you missed the tutorial for this cute pincushion, you can check it out here.

2.  Deconstruct one set of t-shirts and make blocks.
Done!  And not just one set, but two!

3.  Pull the house back together from the last round of home renovations.  Lots of stuff to go to the attic!
Well, I've hauled a lot of stuff up to the attic, but I think it's crawling back downstairs when I'm not watching!

4.  Cut out Emmy's annual quilt.
Happy happy joy joy - I not only got it cut out, I completed the top!

5.  Figure out what to take to a quilt retreat next week (and how to get it there!)
I think I've got it figured out - I'll be working on Nathanael's annual quilt during our sewing time!  That bag, at least, is packed - tomorrow I'll have to figure out what to take to wear!

6.  Clean up the studio a bit - it's a mess!
Well, it's still a mess - but I had to do a lot of extra stuff this week...

7.  Keep up with any quilt ministry needs that come up.
Done!  It ended up being a pretty busy week, with a lot of quilts I had to work on personally...

This quilt went to a gentleman who is homebound and mostly confined to his bed.  He is a large man so we needed a larger quilt for him.  We keep some large tops on hand, but wait to quilt them until they are needed, so I popped this on the frame and finished it up this week.

This quilt went to a 16-year old girl undergoing treatment for anorexia.  Her friend picked out the fabrics especially for her, and we wanted to get it to her quickly, so simple patchwork worked best.  It also worked well with the great Wonder Woman print!

And this quilt is an example of great teamwork - we needed a quilt quickly for a lady at our church who loves bees, and while I had some great bee fabric, it was just fabric - a long way from being a quilt top.  While I was working on the first two quilts, my friend Deb took my stack of bee fabric and pulled together this pretty top. A quick quilting job and it was ready to be given away!  This lady had a knee replacement and will be recuperating for a while - hopefully this quilt will bring a smile to her face!

I also made a quick jelly roll race quilt top this week (I needed to do some mindless piecing) which will go to a special project we're working on for the quilt ministry.

So all in all, a busy week, but I accomplished more than I originally set out to do, so a very good one!  And here's what's on tap for this (short) week...

1.  Cut out the fabric sashing and cornerstones for one of the t-shirt quilts. (Cut two if the other fabric arrives in time!)

2.  Finish packing and getting ready for my retreat weekend!

3.  Work on Nathanael's annual quilt.

4.  Prepare some reference materials for the retreat.

5.  Learn a new skill!

6.  Take care of any quilt ministry needs that come up.

I wish I could say I can do more than that this week, but I don't think it's in the cards.  Of course, I'll be writing two more blog posts in addition to that list, so I don't think I'll be laying around being lazy!

So now the question is - - - what are you working on this week?

Hugs!

Sarah

  4. Sarah, you are just amazing. I love that you are able to do quilts for the ministry. I need to do a few for people having babies and some having surgeries.
