Make-A-List Monday #28! And a new year begins.....

Hi, all!

The first Monday of 2011 - still feels kind of weird, because my husband is still on vacation!  But Lilli was here today, so that made it feel a little more normal.  Tomorrow everything goes back to normal - Bill goes back to work, Lilli goes to school, and I have to buckle down and start sewing seriously again!!

So how did I do on last week's list?

1.  Finish the baby girl quilt.
Done!  I like the way this came out.  It was only a cheater panel, but I quilted along the lines of the panel, and then did free motion swirlies in the border.  The backing is fleece, and I love the way the quilting looks on the back!

2.  Finalize design for the ALQS5 quilt.
Maybe done.  I think I've picked my idea, now I just have to get it down in fabric!

3.  Work on UFO #1 for the PhD Challenge.
Didn't touch it!  But in my defense, I'll show you some other things I did work on this week after the review.....

4.  Choose design and fabric for man's quilt.
Didn't get to this either.  But here are some things I did work on that weren't on the list...

First of all, I helped my niece finish piecing and bordering her very first quilt - a disappearing nine-patch that she started on her visit in August.

I got a call for two more quilts for the quilt ministry, so I've made these two flimsies, which will be quilted later on this week...

Made using Karrie Lyne's new MBS design, Java Stars!

Many thanks to Megan for donating these
fabulous mosaic blocks!

I also sent out a newsletter e-mail to all the members of the quilt ministry with some goals for 2010 and an update on our current needs!  Good thing - I've had someone volunteer who to quilt that last quilt up there!

So, this week I want to....

1.  Finish the black and white quilt for the quilt ministry.

2.  Bind a quilt (made by another ministry member) for the quilt ministry.

3.  Make my quilt for ALQS5!

4.  Load up my new quilt frame and try it out!

5.  Start working on my UFO #1 for the PhD Challenge.

OK, that's enough - probably way more than enough!  Certainly enough to keep me busy for the week.....

And before Christmas is completely gone, I'd like to share one of my favorite Christmas pics from this year.....

Who knew umbrellas could be so much fun?

So - what are you working on this week?

Later!

Sarah

  1. I really like the Java Stars--I am keeping that one in the back of my mind for a project. Is it relatively quick to make?
