I May Have a Scrap Problem...

Hi, all!

Well, it's been busy week in my home town.... I kind of miss Garrison Keillor, don't you?  Lake Wobegon always seemed like a fun place to live.  That's a strange way to start a quilting blog post, but it just kind of flowed that way!  It has been busy, here, though - I've been working on a semi-scrappy project...

These three memory quilts seem scrappy, being made from twelve garments.  I love the way the fabrics all work together so well!  These are going to be wonderfully cozy quilts, and oh, the memories they hold!  I'll be quilting these later this week.

And now for some inspiration...

If you've never visited Beth's blog, Love Laugh Quilt, you should - she is a fabulous scrap quilter and always makes beautiful quilts!  I'm particularly fond of this one, though - aren't the colors lovely?

And take a look at Preeti's beautiful creation!  This just makes my heart happy, and has my fingers itching to go digging in my scraps - but I've got to finish those three quilts first!  You can read more about this quilt on Preeti's blog by clicking here.

Maria made this beauty, which she claims came about from inspiration from my blog.  I can't find whatever quilt inspired her to do this, but I'm certainly inspired!  This is a beautiful use of strings and the rainbow stars sparkle against the low volume background.  You can follow Maria and see more of her creations (and her cute dogs!) on Instagram - she's @beezuscomplex there.

So a short post today but I hope some good inspiration and some new folks for you to follow!  What have you been working on this week?  Something fun and scrappy?  Do a little for me so I can enjoy it vicariously.  I'll be glad to get back to my own sewing soon, when I can indulge in some squirrel-chasing!

Hugs!

Make-A-List Monday - Where Did My Week Go?

Hi, all!

Honestly - where did the week go?  I took a look at my list from last week this morning and realized there was no way I was going to make any inroads on it.  So let's take a look at last week's progress...

1.  Cut out blocks from a big stack of clothing for three memory quilts.
Done!  Almost 600 5" squares from twelve different pieces of clothing, plus blocks from TN Titans fabric and some St Louis Cardinals logos.

2.  Start assembling at least two of those memory quilts.
Done!  I've managed to assemble two of the quilt tops, and I'm halfway through the third!

3.  Pick out backing fabric for the memory quilts.
Done!  I lucked out at Hobby Lobby and found not one, but two great prints that they had enough of, so I bought both.  My customer liked the one I liked less, so now I have a great backing fabric in my stash!

4.  Work out a design using the scrappy "made fabric" for the guest room bunk bed.
I haven't even had time to think about this one!

5.  Work on cleaning up from the home renovation projects (so I can start a new one without guilt!)
I did a little bit on this today, but not much.  And I discovered that Command Hooks won't hold up hanging rods for wall quilts... (bummer...)

6.  Keep up with any quilt ministry needs that come up.
Done!  We give away three quilts this week...

This quilt went to a woman who has become disabled with various medical conditions...

...and this quilt went to a young girl in need of some encouragement.

Finally, this quilt went to a man recently diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer.

I feel like all I did last week was work on the three memory quilts and didn't get much else done - but I need to get them finished ASAP, so I guess that's ok.  However, I did spend a fun morning with Lilli making cookies...

...so I did get to do some other things!  This week, though, I'm concentrating on finishing those three quilts - here's my list for the week...

1.  Finish piecing the third memory quilt top.

2.  Make the quilt backs.

3.  Quilt all three memory quilts.

4.   Applique pockets on all three quilts.

5.  Work on a design for the bunk bed quilt.

6.  Keep up with any quilt ministry needs that come up.

Looks like "second verse, same as the first", doesn't it?  But this is all top priority for me this week.  However, tomorrow (Election Day) I'm going to take care of my grandkids so my daughter can go vote, and then we're all going to go see The Nutcracker and The Four Realms together to celebrate!

And now that I've brought up voting, if you haven't voted yet, I would encourage you to step away from the computer and go do it! This election is so important - we are going to define to the world what we stand for as a country - and everyone should exercise their right to vote.  After all...

... an awful lot of people worked and struggled and sacrificed and bled to make sure we all have the right to vote in this country - the least we can do is go vote!

So now, the question is - - - what are you doing this week?

Hugs!

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? Truck-or-Treat!

Hi, all!

Friday is here once again (how does that keep happening?) and it's time for us to get our whoop whoop on!  Are you ready?  I am - can't wait to share what I've been teasing about for the past week or so... Let's go!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

You may remember the things I've been making lately...

...a giant pincushion, pins and needle...

...and a giant tape measure!

Well, here's what those things were for...

Truck-or-Treat!

My husband wanted to use his truck instead of my car, and since he came up with the theme, it only seemed fair!

In case you haven't figured it out yet, our theme was "Alice in Quilterland"...

My mom's Featherweight made an appearance, too...

And of course, I had to print out one of these to go on our candy basket!

I am so grateful that there is a wealth of graphics on the internet available to be printed out - it really helped us flesh out our "Alice" theme!  And for those of you who asked about the giant tape measure, I made it using 4" wide yellow ribbon and a black sharpie.  My marks are 1" apart and measure 1", 1.5",  2", and 4" long.  Quilting rulers really made this an easy task!  Oh, and the calligraphy doodling I've been doing lately - although you could probably trace the numbers on, too.

And one last thing I'm whooping about this week - my husband got me this cool saddle stool for my birthday!  I saw one like this at the AQS show in Paducah but even on show special prices it seemed a bit expensive. Amazon is a wonderful place!  My hubby saved about $100 over the show price.  It's adjustable, too - it goes from table height to counter height easily, and rolls everywhere.  I used it while spending a day cutting, I've been using it while piecing, and I plan to give it a try when I do some quilting at the long arm.  It's definitely helped with upper and lower back pain so far! Plus it's a lot softer to sit on than my hard stool...

So - - - can I get a whoop whoop?

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

And now it's your turn!

What's got you whooping it up this week?

What's making you do a little happy dance?

Share!  We want to dance right along with you,

And it's always more fun to dance with friends!

The party will stay open until Sunday midnight.

Hope to see you there!

Hugs!
