I'm sure you're all anxious to know who won the giveaway for the Swiss Chocolate fabrics - so sorry I can't show you a pic of little Miss Random here, but I still haven't figured out how to do that! But trust me - she chose commenter number 15, who said,
Congrats on reaching 400 followers :) Wonderful fabrics thanks for the chance to win!!
Congratulations! I've sent you an e-mail to let you know!

And now, I have an important question for you - with the price of quilt batts rising rather dramatically, I'm contemplating changing from the Warm & Natural batts we use now for the quilt ministry to something else - but I'm wondering if anything out there is comparable in quality, but cheaper. Has anyone used W&N and something else that they liked as well? Please share!! I'm getting desperate!
Later!
Sarah
how about that 50/50 polycotton batt made by the same company? I have limited batting options where I live, but that stuff washes well.
ReplyDeleteI love Hobbs 80/20. If you go to Michael's with a coupon you can get it for a pretty good price. In my area, queen size is priced about $15 but I always use a 40% or 50% coupon. The Michael's nearest me also honors coupons from Joann's, Hobby Lobby, etc. Don't know if you buy your stuff retail or not, but I thought I'd pass this along.
ReplyDeleteFirst, congratulations to the winner of the beautiful fabrics. I buy my batt on the roll from my LQS http://quiltbug.com/batting/quilt-batting.htm
ReplyDelete30% off and shipped to door. Also, pick up from Joann's when sale or with coupon. The all cottons have gone up, so you may consider a cotton, poly blend - there really isn't that much difference in quilting.
Congrats to the winner! I use Fairfield 80/20 from Joann, which is frequently on sale, or I use the 40% off the regular price coupon that I get with their mailings. I bet you could use the twin size (72x90) for most of your ministry quilts.
ReplyDeleteI've known some quilters who have used polar fleece for batting in some of their charity quilts - especially those for children. I haven't used this personally, but they had good results with it.
ReplyDeleteYour best bet is probably to use the coupons, though.
I've had trouble figuring out how to include a picture of the random number too. My daughter told me how: Use the "print screen" button on your keyboard to take the "picture" and then just paste into your blog post. Hope this helps and that I am remembering how to do it correctly!
ReplyDeleteI like the Hobbs 80/20, too. Quilts and drapes beautifully, and is easy-care, minor shrink. There are good prices on it by the roll or by the package at http://www.kmquiltingsupply.com/Batting/Hobbs.asp. This company has good service, too!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Mary Lou
Good morning! Lucky girl! Send me info on the batthing and I'll see what I can come up with. I'll need your zip code. Talk to you later...
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the winner!
ReplyDeleteOh, and on the tip for the "print screen" of the random number generator.....once you "take" the picture, take it into your photo cropping software and crop it to just show the number widget - not all the other stuff! LOL That way it is much smaller (in kb, too) and blogger won't complain quite so loudly!

My quilter likes the Hobbs 80/20 and you can catch it on sale at many places, including Hancocks at 40-50% off.
ReplyDeleteI switched to Heirloom batting mostly because it's so much easier to hand quilt. I frequently find batts on sale thru the Hancock's of Paducah website and when I do I order the king size & queen, as they can be come several crib quilts or twins.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the winner! I don't have a lot of experience with other batting so I'm no help there:)
ReplyDeleteI like the Hobb's 80/20 also and you can usually find it on sale or with a coupon.
ReplyDeleteYou make so many charity quilts I am sure you are getting desperate! I would for sure go with a poly blend. Let us know your findings!
