Hi, all!
Has another week gone by already? How time flies when you're having fun.... and while the quilt ministry really keeps me busy, it's all good because I love love love quilting!! It's wonderful to do what you love, and do good at the same time!! Here's what we've been working on this week....
This quilt is truly a labor of love - a coach at one of our local schools was recently diagnosed with multiple cancers, and Deb, one of the women in our group, located fabrics that speak to all of his likes - hunting, football, fishing, the outdoors, etc. - and created this signature quilt so that teachers and students at his school could send him messages of love and comfort.
It looks like this is Deb's week to shine - she also pieced this brightly colored beauty, using blocks sent to us by Sharon. This quilt is going to a 12-year old girl living with Crohn's disease, and we hope it will give her hope and joy every time she sees it!
This pretty quilt, pieced by Margaret....
...and this cheerful quilt, made from blocks found at a local yard sale, are both going to church for our pastor to hand out if he feels the need at our monthly prayer and anointing service. He's handed out a few of these quilts over the past months, when he feels the need to give someone a quilt-y "hug" they can take away with them. I love that we can provide that for someone we may never meet!!
Those are the quilts we've finished this week - we're also currently working on quilts for a young woman dealing with multiple health issues, another woman dealing with leukemia and some other complications, and an older gentleman just diagnosed with stomach cancer. The work never ends! But, as a friend commented this week to me, "The Lord will supply the ram - AND the stash!!" I think that's going to become my new mantra!
Hugs!
Sarah
PS - Please go check out my friend Pam's blog - she's having a giveaway there and really wants to get more people to come visit! Pam's a great quilter - I got to know her during the Hands2Help Charity Quilt Challenge and just love her to pieces! But she's fairly new to blogging, so go give her some encouragement!! You just might win something, too!!
Again - such wonderful quilts coming from you gals. I will be adding to your supply stash in January - the next 2 months are my vending months and I will be ready to do some more clearing out after.
ReplyDeleteYou are doing such a wonderful thing. What comfort quilts bring to those in pain.
