The first Friday of fall - definitely worth celebrating, even if it doesn't feel like fall yet (as Lilli pointed out to me this afternoon!) The beginning of serious quilting time, fall is one of my favorite times of the year. I love the rich saturated colors that are so prevalent right now! How about you - does this time of year inspire you to quilt? Or are you a fan of another season?
OK - enough about fall! Are you ready to get your whoop whoop on? Let's get down to it and see what everyone's been up to this week!
*&*&*&*&*&*&*
A few weeks ago, I received a box from Gayle, a blog friend, with some beautiful quilt tops in it. At first I thought they were for the quilt ministry, but then I read the letter that came with them. It turns out that Gayle had purchased a bag of fabric at a church bag sale, then turned the contents of the bag into all of the quilt tops in the box. She told me that the whole time she was working on the quilt tops, she was thinking about Nathanael (our Chinese grandson) and she wanted me to use the tops to raise money to help bring him home.
Sweet!!
Well, the first of those tops has now found a new home! A local friend of mine wanted a large quilt to take with her on a mission trip to Germany next month, to give to the woman she will be staying with. When I showed her this top, she fell in love!
Beautiful Marcus Brothers fabrics in the colors of the seashore!
This was a beautifully pieced top, and a joy to quilt. And it brings us a little bit closer to bringing Nathanael home!!
I'll be sharing more of the tops Gayle sent in the near future - I've got the last one on the frame right now, and then we'll figure out the best way to find forever homes for each one of them!
So - can I get a whoop whoop?

That quilt in the colors of the shore is absolutely gorgeous. I love the way you are using it too. Whoop Whoop to you.
ReplyDeleteGayle is definitely a quilt angel! What a gift. At this rate, it won't be much time until Nathanael comes home!
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing!
ReplyDeleteVery thoughtful. Quilters are just that way which is what makes being one and knowing them all that more special
ReplyDeleteSarah, the first time I tried to link to whoop whoop, something went wrong so I did it again...and now there are 2 links for me. I hope this doesn't mess anything up. I'm sorry.
ReplyDeleteThat is just fabulous and I can't wait to see the rest.
ReplyDeleteFun . . . amazingly, this is my first visit to your blog. It will NOT be the last! Love this around the world blog tour!
