Hands2Help - Our Final Guest Blogger, Myra!!

Hi, all!

The end of this year's Challenge is almost here, and this week we welcome our final guest blogger, Myra of Busy Hands Quilts!  Myra has such a fun blog, which I'm sure she's going to tell you about (I know this because I've already read her post!)  and she hosts a great weekly link-up, too!  She's also a fabulous quilt pattern designer, and she's designed a special quilt pattern with Hands2Help in mind that she'll be sharing with us today.  So without further ado, here's Myra!!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

Hi! I'm Myra @ Busy Hands Quilts!  Thank you to Sarah here at Confessions of a Fabric Addict for all of her labor to coordinate this great project!  I'm also grateful for the opportunity to share a tutorial with you during the Hands2Help challenge.  It is amazing how many of you are participating in the challenge this year!

Did you know that you can link up your finished {or not!} projects on my blog on Friday? Yep, every Friday I host Finished or Not Friday, and we'd love to have you join us to share what you're working on!

In keeping with Sarah's theme of stars this year, I created a lap quilt called Star Crossed Rainbows. This pattern uses one half Kona Roll Up plus background yardage, so one roll up will yield two quilts.

I ♥ strip piecing, so I include it in my patterns whenever possible, and Star Crossed Rainbow is no exception.  Every block in the quilt is strip pieced, so they go together very quickly with no sewing of individual squares.  The pattern includes the roll up information and how to place the fabrics to create this quilt.  I found that deciding where to place each fabric was painstakingly time-consuming, so I've done all of that for you.

The quilt looks different with other backgrounds.  Here is the quilt with a white background with the blocks arranged the same way as in the quilt with the gray background.

And here is the quilt with a black background with the 25-patch blocks in the star arranged differently.

Because the instructions are too detailed to include in a blog post, I have added the pattern to my Craftsy pattern shop where you can download it for free for a limited time. Download it today!

It would be fantastic if you'd become a follower of Busy Hands Quilts on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and BlogLovin'.  And for extra fun like discount codes and giveaways, subscribe to my quilty letter, delivered directly to your inbox!  You'll be sure to find more rainbowy goodness at your fingertips!

Thanks, Myra, for a great quilt design!  I think I'll need to order a Kona roll-up soon and make one of these for myself....

And guess what next week is, folks... that's right!  It's the beginning of the final week of this year's Hands2Help Challenge!!  Starting next Sunday, it's time to link up your quilts so we can all see what you've created!!  I can't wait - I'm so excited to see how many quilts we end up with this year.

And here's something to brighten your day - Amanda over at Stash Builder Box posted this on Instagram the other day...

I love knowing that at least some of those quilts are donated as part of the Hands2Help Challenge!!!   So finish up your quilts and let's bless the socks off lots of people!!

See you next week!

Hugs!

Sarah

  10. My quilt is finished and ready to go out as soon as I take a pic or two of it and add a label to it. Do I just contact Em (Scrap Bag Quilts) to get the mailing address for it?
