HEADS UP!! Fabric Requirements for upcoming quilt-along!

Hi, all!

It's almost here - the 12 Days of Christmas in July blog hop starts this Friday!!!  And just like last year, I'll be featuring a tutorial and quilt-along on my blog while all the other lovely ladies are showing you fabulous Christmas ideas on theirs.  Here's a picture of the quilt we'll be making this year....

Do you think this is a quilt you'd like to make?  This tutorial makes it relatively fast and easy - no individual piecing of tiny squares, I promise!  And while I'm showing it in Christmas fabrics, there's no reason you couldn't make it using non-holiday (or even a different holiday - Halloween?) fabrics!  If you want to get a jump on things, here are the fabric requirements for this quilt, a good lap size at approximately 60" square after washing...

Fabric Requirements:

10” x WOF of 16 different fabrics - you can choose to use 16 different fabrics, or repeat certain fabrics as desired.  NOTE:  You'll need a clean 10" of yardage - you'll be cutting four 2.5" strips from each piece.  Be sure that you'll be able to get that from your cut after it's pressed and squared up!

One 2.5” square for center of quilt; fussy cut if desired.

1/2 yard for binding; scrappy binding looks great with this quilt and can help eat up some of your Christmas scraps!

3 5/8 yards for backing - can be scraps.  I'll share a super-scrappy back with you!

The fun starts Friday!  Hope to see you there - and there are giveaways involved - just sayin'!!!

Hugs!

Sarah

  10. Sounds like fun. I think I'll scan the Christmas fabric to see if I have enough to do this one. I'm sure I can scare up enough 10" by WOF fabrics to do it all scrappy. Or maybe a Halloween quilt....

  13. Hoping I have enough Christmas fabrics I've never made anything Christmas but somehow have some fabrics. I've always wanted to do a 12 days of Christmas QAL and this looks like the one I'd like to do. Can't make it in 12 days but, I will make it.

  17. I've got my fabrics lined up, ready to cut, and then we had a wildfire scare in our valley. But it has moved away from us, so I can concentrate again on sewing. How far do you think I'll get in 4 hours today?
