Make-A-List Monday - A Good Week!

Hi, all!

It's the first Monday in July - how in the world did that happen?  For better or worse, we're halfway through the year already!  I hope you've had a good holiday weekend - whether you're celebrating Canada Day or the 4th of July.  I had a good week last week, and a great weekend, with lots accomplished!  Let's take a look at last week's list...

1.  Finish and deliver the t-shirt commission quilt.
Done, and done!!  I'm so happy with the way this quilt turned out -

I used a familiar front design,

but tried something new on the back!

2.  Meet with a new customer about quilting her two t-shirt quilts.
Done!  She did a great job piecing her quilts, and I'll be finishing them up for her soon!

3.  Order fabrics for a new commission quilt - a photo quilt this time!
Ordered!  The holiday is showing down my shipment, but it should be here this week.

4.  Quilt the 12 Days of Christmas in July (12DCIJ) quilt.
Done!  Be sure to tune in July 14th - 25th for this year's 12DCIJ blog hop - 35 fabulous blogs with great ideas to get your Christmas crafting started early, and another fun Christmas quilt-along on this blog!!

A sneak peek at the front...

...and check out that scrappy back!!

5.  Start writing the tutorial for the 12DCIJ quilt.
Started!  I've got it about half done, so I'll need to work on it again this week...

6.  Cut out the pieces for a new project for Free Spirit Fabrics.
Done!  And not only cut out, but the top is pieced!  I'll be revealing this one August 2nd.

7.  Make some progress on the Long Time Gone quilt - I really want to enter this quilt in our local quilt show in September!
I've made three more of those pineapple blocks, bring my completed total to nine.  I'm more than halfway through, and trying to power through them rather than succumbing to the temptation to start putting the panels together....

8.  Pull the fabrics for quilts for my twin nieces, due in September/October!
Done!  I'm using a recent Heather Ross line, paired with two different shades of teal Kona.  The quilts will be made by the same pattern, with each using a different shade of Kona for the background.  More to come soon!

9.  Keep up with any quilt ministry needs that come up.
Thankfully it was an easy week last week - just two quilts...

This one went to a woman who had a severe stroke...

...and this one went to a little boy with a brain tumor.

So a very successful week!  It felt really good to get so much done. Just goes to show that I work better under pressure, I guess...  Here's what's on my plate for this week!

1.  Quilt the Free Spirit Fabrics project.

2.  Print the photos for the photo quilt project.

3.  Cut out the pieces for the photo quilt project after the fabric arrives.

4.  Make the backs for the t-shirt quilting commission.

5.  Finish writing the 12DCIJ tutorial.

6.  Finish making those pineapple blocks!

7.  Cut out the pieces for the twin quilts. (This may be my vacation project over Labor Day if I don't get to it before then.)

8.  Keep up with any quilt ministry needs that come up.

Definitely enough to keep me busy and out of trouble!  I think I'm grateful for shipping delays, though, that give me a little time to work on my Long Time Gone quilt without feeling guilty about avoiding commission jobs!  I'm so close to getting all the blocks finished, then I can start assembling the top.  Woohoo!!

So now the question is - - - what are YOU working on this week?

Hugs!

Sarah

  3. You make me feel guilty when you should be inspiring me.
Let me get an attitude adjustment here. Uhmmmmm, ok good to go. Love the backing on the tee shirt quilt. I have always done that, it started because I measured wrong on my very first quilt and had to add to the backing. I like it so well I have alway just kept it up.
The space ship quilt is sure to put a smile on his face many times. I also like the simplicity of the pattern while it still has a great appearance. The best of both worlds.
Hope you get everything done this week, enjoy the forth.

  4. You are incredibly busy, as always! I'm looking forward to 12DCIJ.

Your light teal for one of the twins' quilts looks like a Kona I used that bled. Yes, really, aqua! It actually tinted the white that I was prewashing with it. Fortunately a couple more washings and it came out. I highly recommend prewashing your teals just in case.

  5. All this and spending time with the kiddos! You are kind of amazing :-) I am sewing Metro Rings blocks together today for a completed top. This quilt has been a bit challenging.

  6. Congrats on all the progress you made last week. Love the scrappy back to the Christmas in July project. Altho I have to say, at first glance it looked like there were holes in it because of the green fabrics blending well with the grass. lol..... I've been working on various projects around here and making slow progress.

  7. You've been really good about working on those pineapple blocks that you're less than excited about. I can't wait to see the finished quilt, it seems like each new block you show leaves me loving it more.
