Can I Get a Whoop Whoop? We Interrupt Our Regular Programming...

Hi, all!

The week has just flown by, and Friday is finally here - and you know what that means!  It's time for us to get our whoop whoop on!  I hope you've had a whoop-worthy week - let's get started!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*&*

I've had a busy week, working on a series of new commission memory quilts.  This one is being made from golf shirts...

...and I'm in the process of deconstructing a whole lot of other shirts for more quilts.  Fun fun fun!!

But this week, I also interrupted my regular programming, so to speak, and did a little home DIY...

See that beautiful painted crown molding?  Well, it's been unpainted for about nine years now - just waiting for me to caulk and paint it - and now it's done!

And then I decided to paint the knotty pine paneling again.  I painted it back when we first moved in - it had been that hideous orange-y color that knotty pine turns after it's been lacquered a long time - and the color that I thought would be a warm cream turned out to look more yellow.  I've lived with it for a while, but with the advent of the farmhouse decorating trend, I decided it was time to go to paler neutrals. This color is called Dogwood, and it's a very pale cream.

And here's the dining room all painted!  I really like the change in color - it's much brighter in the room, which has a problem being kind of dark because of all the trees outside.

And then it was time to put out the new rug!  This one has enough cream in it to make it look brighter in the room, but also enough darker background colors to not show every little thing that falls on it (it is under my dining room table, after all - and I have grandkids!)

The kitchen has one long wall that needs to be painted - it's partially done, but I've still got to move the cabinet that the tv is sitting on and paint behind it.  It's solid walnut, made by my great-grandfather, and he didn't make wimpy furniture!  I'll have to empty it out tomorrow, take the drawers out to reduce the weight, and move it before I can paint the small section of wall behind it.

These are the cabinets on the other side of the room.  We're planning on removing the faux tin backsplash and replacing it with this...

...which should also brighten up the room considerably!  I also want to repaint the base of the butcher block island and the brown dresser you can see to the right in the first kitchen picture, but I'm still trying to decide what color.  Right now, I'm thinking some shade of gray, about mid-range.

So after a hard day of painting, I'm proud of how it looks!  And now I'll ask - - - can I get a whoop whoop?

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

And now it's your turn!

What's making you whoop it up this week?

What's got you dancing a little happy dance?

Share!  We want to dance right along with you,

And it's always more fun to dance with friends!

The party will stay open until Sunday midnight.

Hope to see you there!

Hugs!

Sarah

  5. Your dining room looks nice and fresh. I have that same tin backsplash, but, mine is a warm copper color. I love it. My inlaws have the glass you are looking at, but, in pale greens (also lovely).

  9. Whoop, whoop!! Great paint job! I think it's amazing how a coat of paint can change the look of a room. Looking forward to seeing the new back splash. I leave the painting to Tu-Na Helper. He leaves the patching to me.

  10. You can definitely get your whoop whoop on, Sarah! You have been one busy lady! I love the new dining room and your plans for the kitchen. 11. I don't think I have a big enough Whoop Whoop for a painting job! It looks wonderful, and really does fit well with the farmhouse style. I haven't seen a quilt made before from golf shirts. Do you interface them the same way as T-shirts?
