Well, here it is, Friday again, and you now what that means - it's time for us to get our whoop whoop on! Have you been busy sewing this week? Or maybe you're whooping it up over something else - whatever, it's all good! Let's get started!
*&*&*&*&*&*&*
And here's what I'm whooping about this week...
I finished a quilt!!!
Well, actually, this quilt is a collaborative effort. Our church's quilt ministry created this one to be given to our pastor and his wife, who will be leaving us at the end of May to return home to Georgia. We spent the past two weeks cutting and piecing, and I brought it home to quilt using a little bit of ruler work (for stitching in the ditch) and some random meander in the red and black diamonds.
In case you hadn't guessed already, our pastor is a HUGE Georgia Bulldogs fan - so we did the front of the quilt in the school colors...
...but we made sure to leave him a little reminder of his time in Tennessee on the back of the quilt!
Over the next couple of weeks, the quilt will be made available for folks to leave messages in the white portions of the quilt. But for now, I'm going to enjoy it in its pristine state!
So - - - can I get a whoop whoop?
*&*&*&*&*&*&*
And now it's your turn!
What's got you whooping it up this week?
What's making you do a little happy dance?
Share - we want to dance right along with you,
And it's always more fun to dance with friends!
The party will stay open until Sunday midnight.
Hope to see you there!
Hugs!
Sarah
Excellent finish--great idea to give them a bon voyage quilt!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great gift for them! I love the little Tennessee reminder on the back :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful gift for your Pastor! And I'm sure all the written messages will bring them lots of love and memories of their time there :-)
ReplyDeleteFirst, I think you may want to delete the weird spam comment #1 on this post from Dr. Ogugu...
ReplyDeleteI love the quilt you made for your pastor so much, especially the little Tennessee jab on the back of a Bulldogs quilt! HAHAHA! And as beautiful as the quilt looks now, the handwritten well wishes of his former flock will truly make this quilt a cherished keepsake. GREAT JOB! WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP!!! :-)
Love your red and black diamonds!!
ReplyDeletePretty. When I first scrolled I thought I was going to see appliqued flowers. It's still very pretty without them and your pastor will cherish it.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea for a gift. It's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSEW... That's why you chose the layout with the wide open white sections! Makes perfect sense for a signature quilt. Oh, on another note... Go, DAWGS!!! :o))
ReplyDeleteI like the way it turned out. He will be so pleased, especially with names on it. Love the bit of Tennessee on the back. =)
ReplyDeleteI love the pastor's quilt!! What size blocks did you cut to make it?
ReplyDeleteI hope you look at your blog post comments because I know you won't get notified of my comment.

Thanks again for bringing these worthwhile causes to our attention.
I remember dancing the nearest chase bank
ReplyDeleteJive to tunes like that. So easy to listen to. Love the layout with the colours moving up the strips.
