Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? A Fine Start...

Hi, all!

Well, here it is, Friday again - and, at least unofficially, summer has arrived!  This has truly been the strangest year, hasn't it?  And it's almost halfway over.  But strange or not, it's Friday, and that means it's time to get our whoop whoop on!  Are you ready? Then let's get started!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

My week started off pretty normal - I had a t-shirt commission quilt to work on so I started bright and early Tuesday morning deconstructing shirts and making the blocks.  By Wednesday afternoon, I had a rough layout set out....

...and then I got a message from my customer asking if she could send me one more shirt.  So.... this got put on hold for a couple of days, and I had some time on my hands!  Time for some fun and unplanned sewing!

A couple of months ago, I splurged and bought a fat quarter bundle of Christina Cameli's first line of fabric, Moongate.  It's been sitting on my shelf, waiting to be made into something beautiful, and I decided that the time was right for a postage stamp quilt!

So Thursday morning, I got up bright and early, pressed all those pretty fat quarters, and cut them into 2.5" strips...

...and then sewed them into forty sets of five strips each.

Next step was to cross-cut all those strip sets into 2.5" wide strips of five blocks...

Whew!  That's a lot of cutting!  And then it was time to start making blocks...

And although I didn't get many made before having to stop to write this post, you can see it's going to be a pretty quilt!

I'll spend most of my day on Friday working on this to see just how far I can get.  I have enough strips to make sixty-four 25-patch blocks, which will give me an 80" square quilt - a nice size for one of my new guest beds!  I'll have until about noon Saturday before that t-shirt arrives - do you think I can achieve a finished top by then?  I'm going to try!

So - - - can I get a whoop whoop?

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

And now it's your turn!

What's making you whoop it up this week?

What's making you do a little happy dance?

Share!  We want to dance right along with you,

And it's always more fun to dance with friends!

The party will stay open until Sunday midnight.

Hope to see you there!

Hugs!

Sarah

  3. I purchased the Moongate, Jelly Roll. Haven't started opened it yet because I am still looking for inspiration for a pattern. Your 2.5'' square design will be perfect. Under my needle today and this weekend is a special quilt to custom quilt. Can't say much because the recipient follows your blog, but will send a picture after it is gifted. Have a great weekend. D.
