Make-A-List Monday - Keeping All The Plates Spinning!

Hi, all!

Do you ever feel like one of those entertainers spinning plates on top of sticks?

This is kind of what my life feels like these days, but I'm happy to say that all my plates are staying up, hallelujah!  Lots to do, but thanks to my whiteboard on the wall, I feel like I've got a good handle on it all and won't let anything fall through the cracks (or off the stick!)

Here's a recap of last week's list...

1.  Finish the three memory quilts.
Done, and delivered!

2.  Deconstruct the t-shirts for one commission quilt.
Done!  I deconstructed the shirts for the puzzle style quilt...

...and then I deconstructed the shirts for another commission job, AND made the blocks for it!  I'm still waiting for fabric to arrive for this one, so I'll just keep this plate spinning in the air for a while longer.

3. Take photos of t-shirts for a puzzle style commission quilt.
4.  Plan out the puzzle style quilt on graph paper.
Done!  I had a special helper for this one - Lilli come over and helped me lay it out...

...then used her superior math skills to graph it out for me as I called out the measurements.  It was a lot more fun this way!

5.  Write the next String Therapy tutorial.
Done!  This is "Mindless" and if you want to make one of your own, you can find the tutorial here.

6.  If time allows, quilt another String Therapy prototype.
Done!  I squeaked it in under the wire this afternoon, but it's done!

And I did do one other thing last week - something I almost let slip!  I made this block, a free download from Fat Quarter Shop, which will become the center of a special quilt.

So, a good and productive week!  All the plates are spinning, and here's what I need to do this week to keep them going...

1.  Begin working on the puzzle commission quilt, making bocks and piecing per the layout.

2.  Some H2H admin work - contact the guest bloggers and set the schedule.

3.  Order the additional fabric for the third and fourth t-shirt quilt.

4.  Deconstruct the shirts for those quilts.

5.  Write the tutorial for next Sunday's String Therapy post.

Lots of plates to keep spinning, but we'll see how it goes.  At least I won't be bored!

And now, I really want to know - - - what are YOU working on this week?

Hugs!

Sarah

  1. Wow, you've been busy again. I am loading the second top to quilt for a customer tonight. I did the first one on Sunday. Then I have 3 lap size blue jean and shirts quilts to make for a customer and another king size one to make for another customer. Both are for kids that their fathers have passed away within the last couple years. Luckily these are not due till Christmas but I plan on getting started now. Dear Hubby is having another back surgery so I can start planning and cutting while I am off with him. Happy Stitching!

  4. Hi Sarah!! I need to put together a t-shirt quilt or three for my son but I'm so afraid to do it!! I don't know where to begin1! Is there a tutorial that you have written on how to go about it? The t-shirts are for someone who has passed away and I don't want to ruin them!! Help!! How do I do the puzzle piece part? I can graph them out but don't know where to begin deciding what size they should be and how to piece them together...whether they should be puzzle pieced or just lined up.....Help!!!
