Make-A-List Monday - Sunshine is No Excuse for Not Quilting!

Hi, all!

I hope you all are enjoying the same beautiful weather we are having here in Tennessee - it's been spectacular!  We even managed to get the boat out on the lake yesterday for the first time this season.  A perfect day!  It sure started out weird though - when we pulled up to church yesterday morning, there was a pair of peacocks standing by the door as if they were waiting to go in! Just goes to show you never know what you're going to see - amazing things surround us everywhere!

Let's see how I did on last week's list...

1.  Quilt a ministry member’s quilt for her neighbor who is sick.
Done!  This turned out really nicely, and is going to a woman who has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

2.  Finish a ministry quilt for a woman getting ready
for open heart surgery.
We lucked out - Anita sent us some beautiful finished quilts and this one was perfect for this woman!  She will be having her surgery tomorrow, I believe.

3.  Finish a ministry quilt for a man with bilateral lung cancer.
Done!  I really had fun with this one - the man runs a motorcycle repair shop, and when I found these fabrics in the stash at church, it was meant to be!

4.  Write the tutorials for the block blog hops.
In progress.  I just downloaded EazyDraw for my Mac in hopes of finding a way to draw the block diagrams instead of using photographs.  Wish me luck! If it works, I may be posting my free tutorials on Craftsy after I re-do them.

5.  Write up a quilt tutorial that has been requested.
Done!  A woman requested a tutorial for this quilt, Oh! Fibonnaci, that my niece made.  It stretched my brain a bit to remember how we did it, but that's good, right?

6.  Put the borders on the Celtic Solstice quilt top.
Done! Isn't this the most gorgeous thing?  I can't take credit for anything but putting the blocks together, but I just love it!  Thanks, Sharon, for sending this to us…

7.  Continue switching over email addresses.
Still working on it.  A friend at church (who is much more tech savvy than I) is trying to find a way to move my saved emails along with their labels.  Fingers crossed!

8.  Pull yard sale items for my daughter’s sale.
I've pulled some more, still have plenty I could send!

9.  Quilt a couple of ministry quilts to get ahead of the need.
I didn't get to this - but fortunately it was a quiet week, with the only requests coming with the promise that other ministry members will work on them!

10. Keep up with any ministry needs as they arise.
And as I said above, a quiet week.

11. Research monetizing my blog.
Researched and implemented!  I hope it's not too annoying,
but it helps pay the bills!

And now, for this week

1.  Write a blog post for the Piece*Love*Quilt blog.

2.  Learn to use EazyDraw!

3.  Finish and publish the first blog hop post.
(This coming Saturday 5/10 - be sure to check it out!)

4.  Keep working on the block for the second blog hop.
(Details to come soon, when I get the go-ahead.)

5.  Quilt the kid-inspired quilt for the Charis clinic at church.

6.  Make a back for and quilt the Celtic Solstice quilt.

7.  Make a baby quilt for a friend.

8.  Make a back for Nathanael's Ladder.

9.  Keep up with ministry needs as they arise.

There's something floating around in the back of my head that I'm forgetting, but I can't get a hold of it. Oh well! This is plenty for the week - I probably won't get around to all of this!

A couple of reminders - I'm hosting a giveaway on this blog, celebrating 1000+ followers!!  There's still time to get in on it - the entries close Thursday 5/8 at 6 pm CST. Click here to get to the correct post.

Carol of Fun Threads Designs was our H2H guest blogger this past Sunday, and posted a link to a great free pattern of hers.  Click here to go to the post and download your own copy!

And now, along the lines of "shameless plug", my daughter has opened a new Etsy shop, where she is selling some really nice jewelry to raise money to #bringnathanaelhome (our future Chinese grandson). Here's an example of the beautiful stuff she's making…

They can be customized in many ways - she's got several different shapes and colors of pendants, and she has several different sayings behind the cabochons.  You can also get one customized with pictures of a family member - she's making them right now for Mother's Day with pictures of the kids!  Unfortunately, you probably couldn't order one and get it in time for Mother's Day now, but they are lovely!   I hope you'll hop over and check out her shop, and even if you don't order, help spread the word by pinning some of her designs to Pinterest!

So now, the question is - - - what are YOU working on this week?

Hugs!

Sarah

  1. Isn't it amazing how when we help others things just fall into place; the motorcycle fabric, the beautiful flying geese border to name a few.

  3. Peacocks at the Church Door... sounds like a children's picture book! What a lovely image.
You sure weren't on vacation this past week. Way to get things done. Love the second pictured quilt especially. Nice and easy, but turns out so pretty.
I've changed my mind again about my granddaughter's wedding quilt. Just placement this time. I want more color, and the bird thing was confusing and messy it seemed to me. (This quilt is just not humming along. I'm butting my head against it all the time. I guess I want it to be perfect, and that just isn't happening.)
Good luck on your list... U know I think you are amazing!
    Hugs

  4. You have been busy! Beautiful quilts. All of them, especially Celtic Solstice! Sharon is good with colors, generous with her talents, always thinking of those in need of warmth and comfort.

  7. Once again your list of finished and the next week is just a-mazing! Your daughter's etsy shop is neat. I love her pendants and I know I will buy one for a friend.
Keep up the important work that you do. As an elderly friend used to tell me (just for giving her a ride to church every week) "There's another jewel in your crown"!
