Today marks the halfway point in this year's 12 Days of Christmas in July Blog Hop - are you in the Christmas spirit yet? And we've got three more bloggers lined up for your enjoyment! First off is Christina of Christina's Handicrafts. She's dreaming of snow and has something wonderful to share with us! Then you can go visit Sherry, who blogs at Books, Hooks, Sticks, Etc. I'm really looking forward to her post, because I have a stash that will fit right in with her project! And then drop by Danice at Homespun Hannah, who has something a little bit different to share, along with something yummy for your tummy! Today we'll also be at the halfway point in the quilt-along, too - with a catch-up day tomorrow (whew!)
And with all the great giveaways that have been going on this week on the hop, I've decided it's time to do one of my own!
So you've got some packages to unwrap today - three great blogposts, a giveaway (remember to leave a comment AND your email address!) and today's tutorial for your Christmas quilt! Let's get started!

Today we will start assembling Block B. Once again, this is a simple 9-patch block construction, so we'll be using much the same construction technique as we used for Block A.
Gather up the 52 Tri-Recs blocks you made yesterday, and 65 Fabric A 4.5" squares. Make four equal piles of 13 of the Tri-Recs blocks and five equal piles of 13 of the Fabric A 4.5" squares.
Lay out a 9-patch block with the Tri-Recs blocks at NSEW with the two points on the outside edge of the 9-patch block. Place the Fabric A squares in the center and corners. SPEED TIP: I stack up all the parts for all 13 blocks on top of each other so I don't have to stop and lay out the next block after finishing one.
Now assemble your block in the same manner as we did on Monday, chain piecing the center and right hand column pairs together from top to bottom, then chain piecing the left hand column pieces to the center pieces. Once you have webbed the block, set it to one side and do the same for the remaining twelve.
And now you're done for the day! Tomorrow my blog will be hijacked by Kristi, who doesn't blog herself but wanted to be part of the hop - and she did such a great job during the Hands2Help Challenge I want to give her the platform! That will give you a day to play catch-up if you've gotten behind. Friday we'll finish up our B blocks. Don't get ahead of the game, because the pressing instructions will help your quilt go together smooth and easy!

I love the song Silver Bells. It reminds me of my Christmas' when I was a little girl. My aunt would play the piano so we could all sing carols and I just remember her playing this song and singing it. Thanks for the wonderful giveaway.

My favorite Christmas carol is Go Tell It On the Mountain. Perhaps, but the normal choice, but we always sang it during the Christmas season.
ReplyDeleteOh Holy Night is my favorite Christmas hymn. My high school was taught by a French order of nuns, the Daughters of Wisdom. We learned to sing Oh Holy Night in French. When my children were in elementary school, their school put on a Christmas pageant each year. The pastor of the church would join the children on stage and sing a beautiful rendition of Oh Holy Night and there was not a dry eye in the auditorium. It is also a featured solo at Christmas Eve Mass at our church. The soloist varies each year. There have been some years I have left Church thinking my ears would start bleeding after a particularly screechy rendition, but it never fails to make me feel as though Christmas has truly arrived.
