Hi everyone,
My name is Kathy and I blog at Kathy's Kwilts and More. I love to sew and quilt and have been doing so for about 45 years.
I am so excited to be back as a guest blogger for Sarah for her Hands2Help event. I have done this for the last few years and I have really enjoyed it. I have already delivered four quilts in the last two weeks to my local project Linus group. I have a stack of about four to quilt and bind that will go to Primary Children's Hospital here in Utah.
I am mom to five, mom-in-law to three, and grandma to nine. I work full time as a seamstress and part time teaching sewing and quilting classes at one of my local quilt shops.
Today I have a fun scrap busting project for you. I am going to give you some basic measurements, but you can cut them whichever sizes you want.
Cut matching pairs of rectangles at 5" x 9.5". Cut strips at 1"x 9.5". If you want to add the squares in there you cut those at 1" square. The sashing between rows is cut at 1.5" wide.
Now you can sew two matching rectangles, one to each side of a 1" strip. Repeat using all your matching rectangles. Once you get those sewn together, you need to press the seams.
Sew the rectangles into rows, then assemble the quilt top with sashing between the rows.
You can make this quilt any size you want.
This is a fun one to use up scraps.
Great tutorial for a quick quilt, Kathy!! Hoping to finish off my Hometown Hero project by next week, Sarah.
