It's Friday!!! And as we all know by now, that means it's time for us to get our whoop whoop on! Time to encourage each other, show off our current projects (whether finished or not), and just binge on all the gorgeous eye candy that's out there in the blogiverse! And hey - it's a lot less fattening than candy corn!! I'm excited to get started - so let's go!!
*&*&*&*&*&*&*
One of the first ASL signs my grandchildren learned was the sign for "my turn" and we saw that one a lot. Well, I feel like that today - because it's finally "my turn" on the Kaffe Fassett Artisan blog tour!!! Back in July when Nancy at Westminster Fabrics contacted me about participating, I jumped on the chance to play with new fabrics from Kaffe Fassett - I mean, who wouldn't? So when this glorious stack of fabric showed up at my house....
...I went into planning mode. These fabrics just scream Boho Chic to me, so I began lots of research (insert window-shopping and Pinterest browsing here) to find the specific details that made up the style I was looking for. And I discovered that I couldn't stop at just one project! So I'm actually going to post for the next three days (coincidentally lining right up with the International Quilt Market 2016 and #missingmarket) to share all of my creations with you - and guess what? There will be a giveaway for each day! It's my birthday weekend and I want to celebrate it with all of you!! So be sure to check back in Saturday 10/29 and Sunday 10/30 and participate in all three giveaways for your best chances.
OK - on to the eye candy!!
My main focus for this fabric was the beautiful Sunny color way - primarily oranges, reds, yellows and pinks with just a touch of some cooler colors. There are quilting cottons (the 9 on the left), batiks (in the center) and ikats (the four on the left). We were asked to try and mix all three types of fabric in our creations, but other than that, what we made was completely up to us.
I started with this inspiration picture...
...and came up with a pieced table cover design that I really love!
On the table...
...and laid out so you can see it in all its glory!
The colors in these fabrics are so beautiful, vibrant and saturated, and the batiks and quilting cottons play well together. I just noticed that I didn't incorporate any of the ikats into this piece, but you will see them in the other projects I show over the next couple of days.
This table cover is just about 63" across at its widest point (66" if you count the fringe), and could be used on a larger table than the one I've shown it on. My version has cotton batting in it, and I probably would change that in my next attempt - it's not quite as crisp as I would like it to be - but it would be great for protecting a tabletop from hot dishes.
Be sure to check back in tomorrow when I'll share more about the pillows and quilt in this picture!
And now on to the fun part - the GIVEAWAY!!!
Take a look at all those goodies that Westminster Fabrics sent to help us all celebrate the release of Artisan! Today there will be two winners - one for the 20-fat quarter bundle of Kaffe Fassett classics, and one for a jelly roll of shot cottons. Here's how to enter! Choose one, some, or all options...
1. Leave a comment below, answering the question left by the commenter before you. I'll start it off with this one:
Which do you steal out of your kids' Halloween basket -
Candy corn, or chocolate?
2. Link up to the Whoop Whoop Friday linky party for a second entry. No need to leave a comment for this one, I'll get your entry from the linky list.
3. Are you a follower of this blog? Leave a comment letting me know how you follow!
Your comments today will enter you in the giveaway for today's two items, and you can enter today's giveaway until noon CST Thursday, November 3rd. I'll draw all the winners and announce them on Friday, November 4th. Be sure to come back tomorrow and Sunday to see some more gorgeous Artisan fabrics and for two more opportunities to win!!
So - - - can I get a WHOOP WHOOP??
*&*&*&*&*&*&*
And now it's your turn!
What's got you whooping it up this week?
What's making you dance a little happy dance?
Share! We want to dance right along with you -
And it's always more fun to dance with friends!
Remember - it doesn't have to be a finish,
just something you're happy to have accomplished!
The party will stay open until Wednesday, November 2nd.
Hope to see you there!
Hugs!
Sarah

ReplyDeleteI follow with blog lovin - question? Black licorice or Red licorice
ReplyDeleteCan I choose both? :) If not, then red...
ReplyDeleteAs for the question: Do you have some "non sugar" alternatives in your trick or treaters basket?
PS. Sara, I love your table cover :)
Oh, and I follow you throug blog lovin and G+
DeleteRed licorice! Okay a nice big juicy honey crisp apple or a peanut butter cup?

ReplyDeleteAlways chocolate - but I wouldn't take candy from my grandkids. I'll buy my own.
ReplyDeleteTo answer Pale Blue Corner's question, we live in a very small rural community so don't get trick or treaters but when I was little my Mum would offer clementines in with the sugary stuff. My question is: what's your favourite pumpkin recipe?
ReplyDeleteannamariehlustik@googlemail.com
annamariehlustik@googlemail.com
No trick or treating down here, but if I had a choice, home made fudge. Do you make your own treats or buy them?

ReplyDeleteYes please, for the PDF pattern, , it really is most amazing. Purples and blues with some green or teal would be my choices.
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to order some of the artisan fabric. The table cover is beautiful and I can't wait to see the details on how you used the Ikat prints.

ReplyDeleteI follow you on the old fashioned blogger dashboard.
ReplyDeleteI like to have soup in the freezer so I'll freeze it in portion sized containers. Sarah, thanks for the give away. I'd love a chance to play with those fabrics! sayers.gmlren@gmail.com My question: When do you sew?
ReplyDeleteTo answer KaHolly's question, we freeze fresh blueberries from our bushes - nearly 30 quarts this summer. Wonderful for mid-winter pancake breakfasts, blueberry coffee cake, on cereal, etc. My question: what is the most unusual item you have canned this summer?
ReplyDeleteI follow via my google dashboard.
ReplyDeleteI sew every chance I get, but most likely times are between 7 and 8 in the evening and Sunday afternoons during the NASCAR race. Love the table topper Sarah, you really nailed the Boho Chic theme. My question: What was the last Halloween costume you wore?
ReplyDeleteI love this table topper. It's gorgeous!! The last Halloween costume I wore was a witch. I wore it when I took my kids out trick or treating. It's been quite a few years though! My question is: What is your favourite thing to do in the fall?

ReplyDeleteI am just about to enter my email address so that I can follow your blog.
ReplyDeleteSarah, I love following your blog, but I just open it a couple times a week to get great inspiration. You are so enthusiastic and a prolific quilter. and I love candy corn, but don't take it from the kids, which are grown. I am on my 3rd bag of the fall; the first one was purchased Labor Day.
ReplyDeleteWell, last commentor didn't ask a question for me to answer, so I will answer your question.... Chocolate, because I have never liked candy corn! Lol......my question for next commentor to answer: what bad habit do you have when making a quilt?
ReplyDeletePumpkin pie. I have never had a sweet potato pie.
ReplyDeleteNext logical question - whipped cream or not?
I follow your blog on blogger.

ReplyDeletei follow by email....
ReplyDeleteI am a follower, what a beautiful inspiration photo.
ReplyDeleteI am a Candy Corn girl. My kids are grown, so no more Trick or Treat bags to go through. One time my youngest came home with 17 pounds of treats, which he did share with the rest of the family. My question is: Do you remember "wax lips" ?
ReplyDeleteLast question I see is LAPaylor's favorite chocolate bar -- it would have to be Snickers. Love the quilt you made. The Fassett fabrics are amazing! What is your favorite snack while quilting? Wendy at piecefulthoughts@gmail.com

Can I finally say how danged wonderful that table topper is?!! You hit it with all the pretty style of Boho and a talented quilter's touch together. I would really love to have your pdf if you would kindly send it. I have a small Christmas tree with cherished 50's ornaments I set up on a table, and the table legs aren't as pretty as they once were. It would be perfect.
Thanks so much! Enjoy your fabric.
I'm an excited new follower in feedly. Your table cover is gorgeous!
ReplyDeletecmesew337@gmail.com
My Dr put me in a very low carbs diets for health reasons.....so no candies for me but I love the lollypops!!!!
ReplyDeleteOk, I'll answer Julie's question: neither my son nor I were very creative, so he was the standard soldier, cowboy, pirate, etc.
ReplyDeleteMy question--how many quilts Halloween projects do you have in your home right now?
Love all of those fabrics!
Wow Sarah you NAILED this one for Boho Chic vibe!! The addition of the tassled fringe is just perfect! Yes PUH-LEEZE email me a copy of the PDF. I need a new treeskirt fo-sho' !! To answer Julie's question a couple above me (love that I get to answer my QBFF's question) is a bumblebee. It was hot inside that homemade costume by another sweet also quilty friend back in Alberta, and I suffered all day and even had 'hat head' ache from the bonnet-type hat trimmed with antennae!
ReplyDeleteMy question for the next person who comments is what is the coolest group costume you ever did for Halloween?
I follow you everywhere I can! Bloglovin' and Instagram for just two! Thanks to you and to Artisan for a terrific giveaway.
ReplyDeleteOh Sarah! That is just glorious!!!! Yes, please send me the PDF because my table is now very jealous and will not let me anywhere near it until I agree to give it a beautiful covering too :*) And I'm in for any or all of the fabric giveaways! I absolutely adore shot cottons and anything Kaffe is a win in my book - he's my hero!
ReplyDeleteI've never really done a group costume for Halloween, but when I used to work we dressed up and I loved joining in. My favorite was when I made a panda bear outfit - I scared my poor 2-year-old granddaughter when she came to trick or treat and had to wash off the face makeup lickety-split to show her that it was just me! My question for the next commenter is what is your favorite tradition to enjoy Fall?
I'm a long-time happy follower through Blogger :)
ReplyDeleteOMG - your table cloth is gorgeous! I love how you captured the Bohemian vibe.
ReplyDeleteThe coolest group costume: my boyfriend & I dressed as Jolly Green Giant and Sprout. At 4'11", I certainly wasn't the Green Giant!

It is so much fun reading all these Q/As. I've been following you via blogger and now Pinterest. ;^)
ReplyDeletechocolate of course. lol these Kaffe fabrics are the real treat. fingers crossed
ReplyDeletecomment 102 did not contain a question (who didn't read the whole blog post???)
ReplyDeleteI shall answer the question in 101 instead!
Mostly in Autumn/Fall I change my light bulbs (are they called that in US English?) for ones with a daylight label. I find them brighter for the same candlepower and I need brightness until the Spring.
I'm a grandma who would never steal their candy-I just buy my own!
ReplyDeleteChocolate, of course!! Breakfast of Champions!!
ReplyDeleteI follow on bloglovin.
ReplyDeleteOh, Gloria! Cynthia! Janet! Did you read the directions? Answer the question from the reply above yours. Oh, well. I will answer the question from comment 101 as well. What do I change for the seasons? Blankets on the beds of course! Take off the light cotton blankets and pile on the wool and the quilts.
ReplyDeleteMy question is What is your favorite season, and why?
Good luck, everyone.
What is my favorite season, and why?
ReplyDeleteIt used to be winter, because I like cool weather (and snow!) better than being hot. But, I have arthritis early in life, and now hurt a lot in winter. So, autumn is my favorite now...or spring.
My question is do you like all things pumpkin spice?
Sarah, I follow your blog. I have it on my favorites bar on the computer, and I follow you on Insta. But, I'm not subscribed to receive updates or anything. I just click on your link every couple days. Quilting is my therapy, and I love your design ideas.
ReplyDeleteAnd I follow your blog. It is on my Favorites Page and I log on every day.
ReplyDeleteI follow on G+! =)
ReplyDeleteLove the table cover! And I love everything pumpkin spice! My favorites are cakes and cookies... My question for the next visitor: Which colors are almost always featured on your quilts? derussell22 at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog...
ReplyDeleteI will answer the most recent question =)
ReplyDelete"Do you love all things pumpkin spice" I actually love the smell but haven't gotten too into all the flavorful drinks and things, I know, I've heard that I am an odd one from many ;)
My question..hmm..Do you like to get scared on Halloween(with haunted houses and such)?
I don't- something about people jumping at me with weapons puts me off ;) haha
Thanks so much for the opportunity!!
I wonder how many questions get skipped or missed because it is so hard to keep up in your comments!! haha
DeleteSo I answered Pumpkin spice but someone got in just before me and asked another, oops.. In answer to that "which colors are almost always featured".. I LOVE pink and blue :)
I follow your blog on my blogger dashboard/GFC.
ReplyDeleteTo the question "Do you like to get scared on Halloween(with haunted houses and such)?" I say definitely NO! I close my eyes and cover my ears when ads for scary movies come on the TV. My question for the next person -- have you made homemade Halloween costumes and if so, what was your favorite one?
ReplyDeleteI'd like the table cover pattern - it's so fabulous! I love all things pumpkin. What is your favorite Halloween treat? anudge(at)gmail (dot)com
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower for a long time!
ReplyDeleteMy Favorite treats are the carmeled apples. Is that considered a halloween treat?? I don't love the candy. What's your favorite halloween activity?
ReplyDeleteI follow via bloglovin.
ReplyDeleteIn answer to Lisa Marie's question: I've made lots of costumes from scratch (without a pattern). Kids always enjoyed them. Recent years I've done Mrs. Longbottom and dispensed candy out of her big red handbag; Professor Trawlane and dispensed candy out of a "crystal" ball... a tiny fish bowl. I've also done costumes of Hermione - candy in her school bag with all the books; hubby's costume as Harry Potter; Prof. Sprout gives candy out of a clean plant pot and gives away little plants.
ReplyDeleteI follow on blogger or whatever took over B. I get your blog on my reader and that is all I need to know about that.
My question is: What is your favorite color?
In answer to Terri's question, my favorite color is yellow. It is in almost every quilt I make and my stash is constantly running short of it! Thanks for the giveaway, Sarah! cotten.gloria@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah! I follow you on Bloglovin and love reading everey post! Thanks for the giveaway! cotten.gloria@gmail.com
ReplyDeletehaha, for me it's always chocolate that gets 'stolen'.
ReplyDeleteI also receive your newsletters. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe last question I could find was Terri's and my favorite color is blue.
ReplyDeleteMy question is what thing in nature inspires your quilt making most?
I am in love with that tablecloth! You have a fantastic eye for using fabrics and colour - the whole set is awesome! We don't 'do' Halloween down here in New Zealand (though certain chain retailers have been pushing it for a few years and some people have fun with it, it's not a full-on tradition for us), but I'd definitely be the chocolate thief!
ReplyDeleteCan I just say Wow! So many fun projects. I'd steal candy corn first and then the chocolate!

The best thing that happened to me this week was finishing a Halloween cross stitch project before Halloween! I love your table cover. What lovely happy colors.

I'd choose to spend the holiday week with my family, it doesn't matter which holiday. And I usually make ghost pie (chocolate pudding pie with cool whip on the top in the shape of a ghost with two brown M&Ms for eyes. It's become a tradition.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite Halloween costume was static cling. It was very simple - leggings and a turtleneck covered with pinned on socks.
ReplyDeleteMy question is, what would be your favorite book to read to a six-year-old?
I follow you on Bloglovin. Thanks for all the eye candy and inspiration!
ReplyDeleteFor a 6-year old I love Gooney Bird Greene by Lowry, and My Father's Dragon by Gannet.
ReplyDeleteMy question is, do you still dress up for Halloween?
I no longer dress up for Halloween.
ReplyDeleteWhat color is your "go-to" for a quilt - the color you start with almost every time??
blue... I can't help it and many of my fabric contain blue, if they are not all blue.
ReplyDeleteDo you sew for the holidays (aka decorations) or just for friends & family(gifts) or contract?
I occasionally sew holiday décor. This year I have made 2 advent calendars to give to my daughters for my grandchildren to countdown for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteDo you carve pumpkins?
I follow with GFC.
ReplyDeleteI love this table covering and would really like the pdf pattern. Thanks for offering it to us. As usual, I am wowed at your work. You are so darn productive and I look forward to your Friday posts.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to mention that I follow you vis blogger.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't had trick or treaters for a number of years and I don't buy candy, but if I did, I get candy corn. I will admit though that sometimes the chocolate just calls my name. :-) Even though I don't buy candy, I do like to carve pumpkins with the grandkids. It is so fun to see the kids faces light up when it gets dark and we light up the candle. FUN!
Do you have a favorite costume that you would love to dress up in again?
No traditions..just staying home to greet the kids and help em get their candy fix. I'd steal the Smarties or bubblegum! What are you working on at the moment? I'm doing a disappearing 9 patch in Thanksgiving fabs.
ReplyDeleteI need to machine embroider some towels for Christmas and start another quilt. We don't get many kids Trick or Treating in our area. Do you know how many kids Trick or Treat at your house each year? jarvenpa1ne at gmail dot come
ReplyDeleteI love your table cover (and happy birthday). I'm working on a quilt using very large hollyhock appliqué blocks made by my friendship group years ago. They just need some cone flowers and some pieced blocks for added interest.
ReplyDeleteDo you enjoy going to haunted houses or on haunted hayrides?
What a gorgeous table cover! The colors and placement of each fabric is perfect and so eye-catching! I would like the pattern to make one...thanks! Chocolate is always my first pick for candy and I have no desire for candy corn ever!
ReplyDeleteOops, I forgot to answer Deborah's question! I don't like anything haunted, but I'd choose the hayride first as I've never been on one. My question: What was your favorite Halloween costume you've worn?
DeleteI am a Bloglovin' follower of yours!
ReplyDeleteI just found you due to this Kaffe blog hop and I'm following by email.
ReplyDeleteI love haunted houses for children...not so much love for the adult versions!
ReplyDeleteWhat is your favorite Halloween food to make?
I follow the blog by checking it a few nights a week - I wish I could figure out how to follow using the other methods!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite costume was a store bought Cinderella one, complete with plastic mask! My question is plastic pumpkin, bag or pillow case to use as your treat bag?
ReplyDeleteEasy choice - I love chocolats.
ReplyDeleteI love the tabletopper /tree skirt and would like the PFD instructions. I always ate chocolate from my kids' bags. I trick or treated with a shopping bag back in the day, my kids preferred plastic pumpkins, and nowadays I love making Halloween pillowcases for the current trick or treaters I know to use while anticipating the day they can use it to collect candy. My question is have you made any quilted or fabric items for Halloween? sockless52@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI love candy corn! I am going to sign up for your blog since this is the first time I have seen it.

ReplyDeleteI have never made quilted or fabric items for Halloween...but have made costumes (easy?simple things! lol) for the Kiddo's to wear! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat is your favorite Halloween treat?
I already follow thru Email & Bloglovin :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite treat is caramel corn! Sarah, beautiful finish! What a great idea! Did you carve a pumpkin this year?
ReplyDeleteI follow via bloglovin' and IG!
ReplyDeleteI love following your blog.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the worst sewing injury you have had?
The worst injury I had was a broken nose due to a car accident.
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog by email. Are you a dog person or a cat person?
ReplyDeleteI think I'm more of a dog person, but i like both. How many trick or treaters do you usually have?
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog by email. Love waking up to bright colors on quilt blogs. Jump starts my creativity for the day. I'm a dog person.
ReplyDeleteI'm a native ASL user! What other languages are you fluent in?
I have 3 dogs and 1 cat so I am both I guess. Do you like quilt kits or do you like to choose your own fabrics?
ReplyDeleteI follow on Bloglovin. See question above.
ReplyDeleteI love to choose my own fabrics, so I'd be a "choose my own"--plus, I'd be afraid that I'd mis-cut and run out if I bought a kit.
ReplyDeleteHave you voted yet?
I follow you via email, using my wordygirl at earthlink dot net email address. I would love a PDF version of your table topper--I've been wanting to make a Christmas tree skirt, and I think this would be a great one, so versatile!
ReplyDeleteNo, I haven't voted yet. We don't have early voting in Kentucky where I live, except if you're going to be unable to vote on Election Day. So I'll be voting on November 8th. Fortunately, I live out in the country, so we don't usually have lines, there just aren't that many of us at each voting precinct, even if everybody shows up!
ReplyDeleteHave you ever made a quilt using exclusively Kaffe Fassett fabrics?
I'd go for chocolate! And I follow through email. Would love a pdf version the table topper
ReplyDeleteI follow your blow via email. And I enjoy it lots. 😊

ReplyDeleteI always go for the chocolate.
ReplyDeleteI follow on Bloglovin.
ReplyDeleteIf you have time, I would love to get a copy of your tablerunner/ tree skirt as it is absolutely adorable. I get email updates at pkitty1@netscape.com. I've always loved Halloween (and chocolate). One year, I dressed as a ghoul and answered the door in costume with my black cat, Pumpkin. The cat was the one who played the trick and proceeding to claw me to pieces. At least the fake injuries looked more "real" when she was done. Need less to say, I never tried that again:)
ReplyDeleteChocolate every time.
