Well, it's Monday and I'm back in Tennessee after a whirlwind trip to East Texas for a family wedding. I'm so glad to be back - Texas ain't got nothin' on Tennessee in the fall! I couldn't figure out what looked so strange in Texas until I realized that the leaves hadn't turned color there.... The wedding was fun, but there truly is no place like home!
Another reason I'm glad to be here - today's my "double-nickel" birthday!! It's been a quiet day - we'll go out to dinner tomorrow night with the kids to celebrate - but a good birthday nonetheless!
Enough about that, though - let's see how I did on last week's list...
1. Quilt a woman's quilt for the quilt ministry.
Done!
2. Put labels on some anonymously donated quilts.
Done! All three have new homes already!
3. Bind my friend Christy's quilt.
Done! It came out amazingly well, especially considering
it's her very first quilt!!
it's her very first quilt!!
4. Quilt and bind a commission quilt.
Done! This one's ready to go in the mail!! I'll show more pics of this one at a later date, after the wind dies down so I can take some!
5. Finish cleaning up the boxes from the great junkroom clean-up.
Almost done - just a couple more to go...
6. Quilt a second woman's quilt for the ministry.
So all in all, I did better than I thought I'd be able to do! And now for this week's list...
1. Make a back for Lilli's Christmas (gift) quilt.
2. Quilt that quilt while I have time without her here!
3. Finish cleaning up the junkroom boxes.
4. Get all the learning and craft stuff together for Lilli.
5. Sew up a back for Emmy's Christmas (gift) quilt.
6. Make some more dump-and-sew blocks if time permits.
So far this week, we haven't had any quilts requested through the quilt ministry, so I'm making the most of my time and working on Christmas presents! It's coming up so fast, isn't it?
And Lilli will start staying with me again next Monday - we're going to have so much fun! Learning and cooking and of course, sewing!! I'll probably be sharing a lot of our adventures in crafting in the near future....
And speaking of sharing and blogging, I'm coming up on my 500th blog post - and you know what that means! A giveaway!! So be on the lookout - it should be in the next week or two!
So now the question is - - - what are you working on this week?
Hugs!
Sarah
Happy birthday, Sarah! You are so productive! I am always amazed at how much you get done! That red and black quilt looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteHappy happy birthday! Enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! Hope christy is doing better. Wonderful quilts.
ReplyDeleteI just started a prayer quilt ministry at my church! We are starting our first quilt next week for a lady at church.
ReplyDeleteI live in TX and hate not having a fall! In fact, my grass is finally green and growing after being dead all summer!
On quilt 4 did you custom quilt it or is it a pantograph? I think it is beautiful. Simple but elegant! If it is a pantograph, which one and where do I get it? If it is custom, BRAVO!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Miss Sarah!!!! As always your quilts are amazing!! <3
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the quilting on that commissioned quilt - so fun!
I just got back from a long trip back to the midwest to visit the hubby's family, and we did a little road trip down through Tennessee while we were there - GORGEOUS!!! We definitely don't get fall like that in Arizona! :)
Happy Birthday! Lovely work - you are one busy lady.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Sarah! Good luck getting Christmas gifts done. I'm trying to do the same thing.

ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! May you have many, many more.
ReplyDeleteNo one comes to Texas for the weather! It is the people that keep my feet planted here.
Happy birthday! Love the quilts you shared. Keep up the good work!!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful qults. You do keep yourself very busy and for such a good cause. It's wonderful that people take time to help with church projects. Happy Birthday and I hope you enjoyed Texas. I live in Texas but I was at the Quilt Market in Houston over the weekend and the weather was great.
ReplyDeleteHappy double nickel birthday! woo hoo!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY! I just finished up a Christmas quilt for my granddaughter and it's off to the quilters. She's two, and we made the mistake of taking her to the quilt store with us, so she made a bee-line for the kids quilts and picked out one for herself! She already has four or five, so I didn't think she really needed another one, but who could resist that face, and Grandpa said, sure she can have another quilt! She's our only grandchild and she knows it!
ReplyDeletehave a very happy birthday
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great birthday!
ReplyDeleteHappy 55th Sarah! I knew you were just a kid sister... I've got nearly 10 years on you!
ReplyDeleteThis week it's all about Halloween, decorating and getting the evening readied. Lots to do.
Hugs

ReplyDeleteHappy (belated) birthday to my fellow Scorpio!

ReplyDeleteHappy happy birthday!!! Glad you had fun in east Texas - they have the best fabric shops down that way. Mom and I had a fabric shop crawl this summer around Dallas and had a great time. The quilting on your red and black quilt looks awesome!! Hope you're having fun getting ready to watch Lilli next week!
