Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? Lots of Little Dresses...

Hi, all!

Friday has rolled around again!  How is daylight savings time treating you?  I seem to be doing better with it this year than in the past - although I'm still revved up at bedtime, and start a little slower in the morning.  Here's to productivity, though - I do feel like I have a bit more energy and that translates to more sewing!   That means that it's time for us to get our whoop whoop on, so let's get started!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

Did you know that it's very hard to get a good photo on a windy day?  Unfortunately, I didn't have any little models on hand for these dresses, so I had to hang them on the clothesline to get a good photo, and the wind was not my friend!

These pillowcase dresses are heading to Haiti in June with our church's mission team.  As I was told by a blog reader, girls who are dressed in nice clothes are less likely to be abused, so not only will these brighten up their day, they will also help protect them!

They are super simple to make, and if you're interested, I wrote a tutorial so you can make some too!  I wish I had known how to make these when my girls were younger - they would have loved them!  Emmy is still pretty sure she wants to wear one, so I've made her one too.  I can't wait to get a picture of her in it!

I did manage to get one fairly well-behaved shot of all of the dresses - they look so cute up there together!

So - - - can I get a whoop whoop?

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

And just a reminder - there's still time to sign up for the Hands2Help Charity Quilt Challenge and be eligible for the sign-up giveaway (although you can still sign up after this week!).  Click here to go to the sign-up post for more info!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

And now it's your turn!

What's got you whooping it up this week?

What's making you do a little happy dance?

Share!  We want to dance right along with you -

And it's always more fun to dance with friends!

The party will stay open until Sunday -

Hope to see you there!

Hugs!

Make-A-List Monday - Best Laid Plans...

Hi, all!

Wow, last week went by really fast!!  And some of my projects went a lot slower than I thought they would - all of which created a perfect storm of not finishing my list!  But it's all good - at least I'll have something to work on this week.  Let's see how last week's list went...

1.  Make more blocks for my "Long Time Gone" quilt.
Done!  I really love these - I raided my Kate Spain scraps for the materials in these...

2.  Bind the two quilts for Stash Builder Box.
Done!  Such pretty colors in these quilts...

3.  Quilt and bind the "Dear Jane" quilt.
This is where I got bogged down - it took a LOT longer to quilt this than I thought it would, and while I've got the binding machine sewn on, I'm still stitching it down by hand.  What was I thinking when I decided to make a scalloped edge???

4.  Begin repairs on the vintage quilt.
Nope.  Didn't get to this one at all.

5.  Quilt a couple of quilts for the quilt ministry - for a special project, quilts for our high school seniors on graduation.
Didn't get to this one either!  But I did pull a couple of tops and find backing material for them, so they are ready whenever I get some time to work on them.

6.  Keep up with any quilt ministry needs that come up!
It was a quiet week - we only gave away two quilts.

This quilt went to a young man who tried to commit suicide this week...

...and this one went to his mother.

But in my defense, I did do a couple of other things this week that weren't on the list.  First of all, I made a twirly skirt for Emmy's fifth birthday, from her favorite Shopkins fabric!

And I pulled the fabric for this year's 12 Days of Christmas in July quilt along!  I'm thinking I may work on this quilt while I'm on vacation in a couple of weeks - killing two birds with one stone by giving me something fun to work on in the evenings and getting my prototype done well in advance!

Plus, I dealt with car issues this week - a recall repair at the dealership (airbags are useful, but sometimes a hassle to deal with!) and getting my battery replaced.  All of which required time away from my sewing machine!

So I'm pleased with what I did get done, just wish I'd had a bit more time to do some of the rest of it!  Here's what's on tap for this week...

1.  Finish the binding on the Dear Jane quilt.

2.  Begin repairs on the vintage quilt.

3.  Pull together my project(s) for vacation.

4.  Quilt a couple of the graduation quilts.

5.  Make the next set of blocks for the "Long Time Gone" quilt.

6.  Keep up with any quilt ministry needs that come up.

With all that being said, I'm going to wrap up here and get back to stitching down that binding!

And now I want to know - - - what are YOU working on?

Hugs!

Can I Get a Whoop Whoop? Twirly Skirt for the Birthday Girl!

Hi, all!

Can you believe it?  It's Friday again, already!  And you know what that means - it's time to get our whoop whoop on!  Are you ready?  Then let's get started!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

Earlier this week, I realized that my youngest granddaughter, Emmy, will be turning FIVE this coming Monday!

It's hard to believe that this little bundle...

...has turned into this sassy little miss!!

Well, every sassy little miss needs a bright new swirly skirt for her birthday, and since she was really upset about outgrowing the Shopkins outfit I made for her last year, I made her a new Shopkins skirt!!

I made this using the same tutorial I used for the Rambling Rose twirly skirt, except instead of adding the third tier to the skirt, I used a pretty hot pink gathered lace to finish it off.

And yes, it's going to be VERY twirly!!  This is a great pattern and really pretty simple to make - I don't do the reversible version, just changed it around so it's just one layer.

Also this week, I finally succumbed to a UFO in the corner that's been saying, "Why haven't you quilted me yet?" and threw it on the quilt frame!  It's nice to have this one finished and ready for cuddling!!

I love the colors in this quilt!  I made it using an Alison Glass jelly roll, and those saturated colors make me so happy!

A nice swirly random meander finished this one off nicely - and now it's not hanging out in the corner shaming me!

So - - - can I get a whoop whoop?

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

And now it's your turn!

What's got you whooping it up this week?

What's making you dance a little happy dance?

Share!  We want to dance right along with you -
And it's always more fun to dance with friends!

The party will stay open until Sunday midnight.

Hope to see you there!

Hugs!

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? A Happy Boy...

Hi, all!

Friday has rolled around once again, and you know what that means - - - it's time to get our whoop whoop on!  Time to share our week's accomplishments and do a little happy dance!  So let's get started!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

This week I've been working madly on projects using Joel Dewberry's new fabric line, Modernist, that will be revealed on Monday - but I've got one I want to share with you today!

Nathanael was a little disappointed when the girls got new outfits for the Rambling Rose reveal, so I decided to make him a shirt this time...

The fabric is Arrowhead in Emerald from Joel Dewberry's Modernist collection, and I used Butterick 3475 for the design.  I did change it a bit, using snaps instead of buttons.  I HATE making buttonholes!! (Can I get an amen??)

This boy REALLY loves green - it's the color of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, his favorite cartoon.  This was the perfect fabric for his shirt!

A quick face cleaning by mom before his pictures... then he was so excited about his new shirt and having his picture made, he started jumping up and down!!

I'd say that's a pretty happy kid!!

So - - - can we get a whoop whoop??

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

And now it's your turn!

What's got you whooping it up this week?

What's making you dance a little happy dance?

Share - because we want to dance right along with you -
And it's always more fun to dance with friends!

The party will stay open until Sunday midnight.

Hope to see you there!!

PS - remember to come back on Sunday and sign up to participate in this year's Hands2Help Charity Quilt Challenge!  There will be a giveaway open to all the people who have signed up by next Saturday, 3/18, at noon CST, so don't miss your chance!

Can I Get a Whoop Whoop? New Duds For The Grands, and a Winner!

Hi, all!

Welcome to Friday!!!  It's been a long week, and a weird one here - after lovely warm spring weather, we went back to cool and rainy - bummer!  But it's starting to warm back up and hopefully we'll be past our little spurt of "blackberry winter"!  So - - - are you ready to get your whoop whoop on?  Let's go!

Looking ahead to warmer weather, I made a couple of outfits for my granddaughters from this adorable fabric...

Both girls are HUGE Shopkins fans - Lilli has had them for a while now, and Emmy got some of her very own for her birthday - she was hugely excited!  So when my daughter spotted this fabric at Joann's recently, she promptly texted her mama to make sure that the littles would have something handmade from it!

I don't know about you, but I think they like them!

Lilli is getting so big, and is very much her own person!

Of course, our little model had to pose appropriately to show off her outfit well!

And don't think that Nathanael was left out - he got a new Spiderman t-shirt in his favorite color, red!

So can I get a whoop whoop??

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

Hmmm, seems like I'm forgetting something.... oh yeah!  We need a winner for the Crafted Appliqué giveaway!!

So I consulted Little Miss Random, and she chose....

Monica also hates zippers but she may have gotten past it by making a zipper-heavy bag, and she wanted to know if the next commenter was a traditional or modern quilter!  Congratulations, Monica - Lara will be mailing a signed copy of Crafted Appliqué directly to you!  Expect an email from me hooking you and Lara up so you can give her your mailing info....

And if you didn't win this copy or any of the others so far in the giveaway, here's a reminder that (a) this is a great book that you will want to own, and (b) if you buy a copy, and then win a later giveaway on the hop, Lara will refund your purchase price!  That's a win/win if I ever heard one!

Whoop whoop!!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

And now it's your turn!

What's got you whooping it up this week?

What's making you do a little happy dance?
