Make-A-List Monday - So much to do, so little time...

Hi, all!

Has fall made it to your neck of the woods yet?  It's starting to get really gorgeous around here - lots of beautiful fall colors beginning to peek out of the green.  And I'm going to be in the Great Smoky Mountains this weekend - I'm hoping it will be the peak weekend for fall color!!

But before I get to go do some leaf-peeping, I need to see how I did on last week's list...

1.  Quilt those three baby tops.

Partly done - one finished, one quilted but not bound, and one yet to be done.  Here's a pic of the finished one...

This one went to a little boy born several weeks premature...

2. Make a dress for my niece's wedding at the end of the month.

Well, it's cut out, but that's all!  I may not get to this one before the wedding....

3.  Quilt a man's quilt for the ministry.

Done!  This quilt will be going to a man who was hit by a drunk driver and is facing many months of rehab for serious injuries.

4.  Choose and quilt a top for a 15-year old boy with leukemia.

We'll be receiving a donated quilt later this week that will be perfect for this young man, so I took this one off the list.

5.  Keep working on the junk room, to turn it into a functional room again!!

Mostly done - I've still got some boxes to sort through, but should be completely finished this week!

This will be Lilli's new crafting area, starting in November!

In addition to everything listed above, we got together and made a quilt for Christy, the ministry member who had a brain aneurysm last week...

Isn't that gorgeous?  Dump and sew blocks, made from fabric leftover from other quilts that we've made for the ministry.  There are also some fabulous word blocks donated to us by Sharon that express some of the prayers we have for Christy - love, hope, care, hugs, hold.  Christy's got a long road ahead of her - we hope this quilt will remind her of all the people praying for her!

So that's how last week's list went.  Let's see what I need to work on this week - not much, because we'll be traveling...

1.  Quilt the last baby quilt on hand.

2.  Bind both baby quilts.

3.  Finish the quilting on a friend's quilt.  Quick job, only about 12 inches left to quilt after reloading it on the machine.

4.  Clean up the house so the house sitter doesn't run away in terror!

5.  Finish sorting through the few boxes left from the great junk room clean-up.

6.  Keep working on Emmy's Christmas stocking.

I'm pretty sure that's all I'll have time to work on this week.  Doesn't seem like much, does it?  But it will have to do!

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? There's A Floor In There!

Hi, all!

Here we go again - are you ready to whoop?  I know lots of you are starting to work on Christmas, but I hope you've got something you can share, even if it's just a peek or a progress shot!  

My big whoop this week isn't sewing - I did some cleaning!! (OK, pick yourself up off the floor - I really do clean occasionally!)  I started with this....

This horrible mess was my 8' x 14' junk room (formerly my tiny sewing area).  It's been like this for about two years now - and just kept getting worse.  But I needed some extra space to set up a baby bed in a quiet spot and this looked like the only available space - so I got to work!  Here's what it looks like now...

Can you believe that's the same space?  I moved the bookshelves from the window side of the room to the other side, which left a larger open space.  This will become Lilli's crafting area - she can use a sewing machine or go crazy with glitter glue, and it will all be confined to one (uncarpeted) space!  Plus she can see me if I'm working on the quilt frame, so she won't feel alone.  And there's room on the other side for Emmy's pack-and-play, which is currently sitting where our Christmas tree will be come December.    Lots of bags of stuff went to Goodwill, a bunch more went out to the curb for trash pickup, and lots of stuff is in my car to go up to the quilt room - but it's finally cleared out!!  Woohoo and whoop whoop!!

I'm also whooping about the progress I've made on Emmy's Christmas stocking!  Here's where it was the last time I showed it on my blog...

....and here's what it looks like today!

It's finally starting to look like a stocking!!  There's still lots to do on it, but I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel...

And for those of you who saw the prayer request on my post Monday, I want to give you an update.  The quilt ministry member I requested prayer for had an aneurysm, and is in the hospital in critical condition.  She is currently sedated, so they don't yet know the extent of damage; she's also got another unruptured aneurysm.  She is a very new member of the quilt ministry, and a new sewer and quilter, but she's already made five baby quilt tops for the ministry.  I finished one of them this week for a little boy born several weeks premature - here's a picture of her pretty top...

Please keep Christy in your prayers - she's got a long way to go and will need lots of prayer in the days to come.  And yes, we're working on a quilt for her!

Make-A-List Monday - Only 11 Weeks?!?!?!?!?!

Hi, all!

Monday came in a big hurry this week - seems like I haven't gotten much done, and way too much to do - because I counted up and it's only eleven weeks until Christmas!!  Ack!! How did that happen?  You'd think after as many years as I've been here, it wouldn't sneak up on me like that.....  So it's time to make that list, and check it twice, and get going on Christmas!  Are you ahead of the game, or behind like me?

Let's see how I did with last week's list...

1.  Quilt a man's quilt for the ministry.

Done!  I love this big D9P design, pieced by Deb...

2.  Quilt a woman's quilt for the ministry.

Done!  Deb pieced this one, too...

Done!  This one was fun to make, and fun to quilt...

And I have a prayer request - the lady who pieced these three baby tops was life-flighted to a local hospital tonight after a seizure.  They think she might have bleeding on the brain.  She's brand-new to our group, but has already pieced five baby tops for the ministry, along with making and quilting her own full size quilt.  Say a quick prayer for her, please!

I'm going to keep it short this week - and hopefully exceed my goals!  I've got lots of other things to work on, including quilting the quilts I've got in the works for Lilli and Emmy for Christmas.  

I'm also looking for great easy gift ideas for things that Lilli can make herself - so I can help her make presents for family members for Christmas.  If you've got any good ideas, I'd love to hear them!
