Can I Get a Whoop Whoop? Lots of Quilting Going On...

Hi, all!

Here it is, Friday again!  Where did the week go?  But now that it's over, it's time to get our whoop whoop on - are you ready?  Let's get started!

I've got kind of a mixed bag this week - I've been working on charity quilts this week, doing bindings...

...and doing a LOT of quilting!

Some of those are for Stash Builder Box, and some are for our quilt ministry.  I've got a bunch more to work on this weekend!

Then there were the shopping finds...

60% off coupons at Joann's, and Kona wasn't already on sale!  I got a whole bolt of Snow, and a piece of Charcoal and a piece of Pool too!

And check out this backing material I found for the One Block Wonder quilt - isn't the color perfect?  I couldn't believe when I got it home - the yellow flowers are exactly the same color as the Kona Wasabi I used for the stop border!

And the kiddos and I have been really enjoying the beautiful spring weather this week - do you remember just how much fun a pinwheel can be?  There was a lot of joy and laughter going on in my car!!

So that's what I've been doing all week - can I get a whoop whoop?

I May Have A Scrap Problem... The Question of Joy!

Hi, all!

I have been having such fun playing in my scraps this month - Jen Kingwell designed an awesome pattern in Long Time Gone, and I'm using up scraps right and left.  Here are the blocks I worked on last week...

I made this block using a bunch of five inch squares I got at QuiltCon this year in sample giveaways - aren't the colors pretty?

And these are definitely scrappy - I pulled the churn dash bits from the scrap buckets, and the backgrounds are some scraps of Modern Background by Zen Chic.  Each churn dash measures only 3" square!  Tiny!!

... and here are all the blocks I have put together so far!  This is going to be such a fun quilt!

This week I'm looting my bonus triangles tub and working on the half-square triangle blocks.  It's so good to be using those - and it makes me want to use all of them!   I'm out of sequence with those blocks, but I wanted to to work on my Long Time Gone quilt and didn't have time to cut the tiny strips for the next one in the sequence.  So I jumped ahead!  

So that's what I've been working on with my scraps this week.  But I also read a very interesting and well-written post last week, written by Annie of Annie's Ruby Slipperz.  In it, she talks about Marie Kondo's book, and her philosophy of decluttering by only keeping things which spark joy in you.  Now that's a different philosophy of decluttering -  as Annie puts it - - - decluttering your stash by getting close to see what sparks joy.  Her post is a fun read and will certainly make you think about your stash!  I'm pleased to say, though, that after working through my scrap problem for the past year or so, that my scraps DO spark joy in me now!  You can read Annie's post by clicking here.

Make-A-List Monday - Home Again, Home Again!

Hi, all!

There's nothing like coming home from a vacation where you had perfect weather, only to find out that it rained the whole time you were gone and still hadn't stopped.  Thankfully, it seems to have stopped now, but we received over 5 inches of rain in the week we were gone!  I miss the sun....  but it will be back later this week!

Since I was on vacation last week, I didn't really have a to-do list, just an "if I feel like it" list - so let's see how it went...

1.  Write a blogpost and tutorial for Wednesday's Scrap Problem post.

Done!  I shared a technique for using fusible interfacing to make sewing with tiny squares easier.  Click here to see the post if you missed it!

2.  Work on two more blocks for the Long Time Gone quilt.

Done! I'll share them on Wednesday...  I am really enjoying this quilt, which is a wonderful blend of traditional blocks and creative modern layout.

3.  Work on the quilt top and tutorial for this year's 12 Days of Christmas in July quilt-along.

Done!  I got a good start on the quilt, and it's going to be a lot of fun!  Here's a sneak peek...

So I did manage to get a few things done last week!  And here's what I'm hoping to do this week...

1.  Prepare the schedule for this year's 12 Days of Christmas in July blog hop.

2.  Put binding on two quilts that will be given away to high school graduates at our church.

3.  Quilt and bind two more graduation quilts.

4.  Quilt two more SBB quilts.

5.  Prepare a kit for the next set of blocks for the Long Time Gone quilt.

6.  Put borders on a quilt top to finish for a friend.

7.  Keep up with any quilt ministry needs that come up.

Plenty on my plate this week!  I need to get some quilting done - graduation is coming up fast and there's a lot of those quiltse to finish.  All of our quilters will be working overtime for the next few weeks...
