What's Cookin' At The Sweatshop? Some Fancy Quilting!!

Hi, all!

Whoo-ee - three weeks into 2013, and this is my third Sweatshop post!  One resolution kept, at least so far!

We've given away a few quilts this week...

These two quilts went to a husband and wife. Hospice has been called in for the wife, and the husband has health issues also.  We hope that these quilts will provide a little comfort to them in difficult times.

This quilt is going to an older woman with serious health issues, the mother of one of our church members.

The top was pieced by Sharon, and I had so much fun quilting it...

with no little girls to play with this week, I was able to take a little extra time and do the piecing justice!

And this quilt is going to a friend who suffered a loss recently.  I call it "1000 Hearts" because each square on the quilt has a heart quilted into it.

Actually, there are more than a thousand hearts, but  1000 hearts sounded better!  I hope she realizes that there are many many people praying for her and keeping her in their thoughts....

I also want to show you another donation we received recently...

Please excuse the state of my studio!!
It's been raining for a while here -
no sunshine for outside photos!

This pretty quilt top came from my niece, who wanted to learn how to make a 1600 quilt, but wasn't very fond of it once she was done - so she gave it to us for the quilt ministry!  So much better than letting it gather dust on a shelf....

So that's what's been going on this week!  We're up to 7 quilts for the year, and 429 since we started the ministry.  Please remember the "Helping Hands Project" and think about making a block if you've ever donated or helped out with this ministry - I'm hoping to make the commemorative quilt to be finished about the time we give away our 500th quilt!  You can read more about the Project by clicking on the tab at the top of this blog, or the button on the right side-bar.

Thanks again to all of you who support this ministry by your donations and your prayers!  We couldn't do it without you!!

Hugs!

Sarah

  2. It's amazing that you were able to quilt a heart in each of those small blocks. That's a beautiful idea.

  4. Such nice quilts, all of them. I cannot imagine quilting all those hearts! You must have seen hearts in your sleep after that.
