This year has brought a big change in our family's life, and I'm pleased to share the story as part of Blogger's Quilt Festival! Many thanks to Amy for hosting this wonderful quilt show once again.
The pattern is "To The Point" by Cluck Cluck Sew.
The quilting is a tight random meander in the white triangles and 1/4" straight line quilting in the outer border.
The binding is scrappy, made with leftover bits and pieces from the prints on the front of the quilt.
The quilting really shows up well on the back!
And here is the quilt, in place on Nathanael's bed!
Nathanael has been home for three weeks now and is adjusting to his new life well. His sisters love him to pieces and although there are some moments when things don't go smoothly, everyone seems to be enjoying the process.
He doesn't yet have the huge stash of quilts his sisters have, but I'm working on it!!
*&*&*&*&*&*&*
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you'll take time to look around the blog and come back again to visit! Take a look around and see the quilts that our quilt ministry, Piece*Love*Quilt, makes and gives to people going through serious physical, mental or emotional problems. Stop by for Whoop Whoop Fridays and link up your accomplishments for the week, or just take a look at all the eye candy that's posted there each week!
Hugs!
Sarah
One last shot, just because! |
I know it took a lot of hard work to bring him home and from the smile on his face and his sister's faces it was worth it. I can tell from your description of your daughter's choosing fabric that his mom loves him. I can also see from the quilt that grandma thinks he's pretty special.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to your family as you embark on this new life together!
ReplyDeleteMy life is much richer following your quilt ministry and family news. You encourage me to keep pushing and sewing and giving. I would love to be as consistent as you with blog posting- I marvel at it! Hopefully some new people will be inspired on the Blogger's quilt festival post!
ReplyDeleteContinuing to pray from one adoptive mom to another - it's rewarding yet challenging. He is Faithful!
ReplyDeleteThe quilt symbolizes so much effort, patience, hope and love! It's a beauty and each of those siblings is a cutie.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy it all worked out so well. Love his quilt.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations. What a sweet little guy and such a lovely story. There is just something about adoption that is special. We adopted three and I can't imagine life without them.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great quilt for a wonderful little boy. Love this story!
ReplyDeleteIt took a few minutes for the goosebumps to pass! Great story! It will be fun to watch this little man grow through your blog alongside his new sisters.
ReplyDeleteYay Sarah! SO SO very happy for all of you! :-) Bet Allison, a mother of 3 herself, is pleased as punch that you used one of her patterns! The fabric choices are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSarah, I am still impressed by the love you all pour out to sweet little Nathanael. I am sure he will remember the day luck entered his life and he met his new family. That quilt looks beautiful on his new bed but I am sure he will treasure it as another way you showed him your love.
ReplyDeleteNathanael's quilt is absolutely fabulous! What a lucky little boy he is to be welcomed with such love. Congratulations to all of you on your newest blessing!
ReplyDeleteHe is so precious!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful Sarah that Nathanael has arrived home to his new family. Such a wonderful thing for a little boy to be so welcomed and loved. May God richly bless you all as you continue on this new leg of life's journey. Just love his quilt and the pattern, and your quilting looks fabulous.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful and special quilt.... for a special little boy! This is a beautiful story behind your quilt. What a lovely family you have , having big hearts to find a dear little boy to love and make part of their own family! The fabrics are perfect!

Nathanael's story is so heartwarming Sarah and I am so glad to hear that his adjustment has been going well! The one year journey and all you have shared with us are a big part of this quilt too! It's a wonderful entry for BQF and looks terrific on Nathanael's bed!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is awesome - the boy is awesomer ;-) So glad it all came together. Glad the Never Alone Foundation could be a small part of this new forever Family..... hugs
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt! Congratulations on the new Grandson!
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt but I really love adoption! I'm an adoptive mom too :)
ReplyDeleteI am thrilled to be able to vote for Nathan's quilt and for the fact that the good Lord has given him a home where he 'will be loved to pieces', and then some. We have neighbors who also adopted a darling little girl from China, about 10 years ago, when she was about 8 months old. They had 3 biological children and wanted to give one of the many available little girls that fill the orphanages there. Hope your quilt for Nathan wins, but if not, it's already a winner with Nathan. lv2bquilting2@comcast.net

ReplyDeleteLove the contrast in this quilt. Especially the navy border. Hard to get too much navy.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to play catch up on my blog reading and didn't want to pass by the opportunity to give you and your family Big Smiles from me. I hope the transition to his new home is going better now. I'm sure that quilt to snuggle under helps lots :)
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is awesome as is the tight quilting.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting for your daughter and the family. Welcome Nathanel.
I know this is an old post, but congratulations to all! Very exciting!
