I've been spending a lot of time recently starting new projects, and most of them with new fabric - but I have been working on a collaborative project over the last few days...
...which is a scrappy project! A simple signature quilt, made using black and red corners. And of course, making those corners left me with some bonus HSTs - so today I decided to play with some arrangements to make a matching pillow cover.
There's this basic layout...
Or this one, made a little punchier by alternating the red and black in the colored bands.
Then I decided to try it a little off center...
...but it felt too off center, so I shifted the center a little further in. I think I'm happy with this layout, so the next step will be to trim all the HSTs to 2.5" and put it together! This will be a quick project, and I usually would have had it finished, but it was my day to spend a few hours with my eldest granddaughter Lilli, so I'll have to wait until tomorrow!

ReplyDeleteThis is one of my big projects for some fabrics I have stashed, and some that are scraps. One day soon.... I love seeing the different arrangements. It is so much fun!

ReplyDeleteI'm always working with scraps, my favorite type of quilts. I just finished a sampler QOV for my son and now I'm working on a scrappy strip quilt for a children's charity I support. I also have a "scrap problem." LOL
ReplyDeleteHmmm...I have a pack of red and black fat quarters that have been calling to me. I think they've been saying "make us into HSTs." What am I waiting for???
ReplyDeleteI would love that last one in a whole quilt layout. I finished my last scrappy Irish Star and am ready to put the top together after almost two years!
