Oh, it feels so good to be back in my studio again! I love vacation, and had a wonderful time with my family - but I missed my usual places, too. So now I'll bask in the glow of last week's beach time while working on some new projects!
First, though, let's see how last week's list went... it shouldn't take long because it was a very short list!
1. Finish the hand-stitching on my main project for the Artisan blog tour.
Done! Here's another sneak peek...
2. Do some hand-quilting on a couple of pillow tops.
Done! I'm almost finished with these - I'm loving the big stitching!
3. Deconstruct a huge mess of men's ties for a memory quilt I have to start as soon as I get back home.
Done! I managed to get all of these pressed and ready to be cut up into strips today...
4. Keep up with any quilt ministry needs that come up (a bit harder long distance, but that's what minions are for!)
Done, because as far as I know, everyone took a break this week - no quilts given out! Hooray!!
So my short list is all finished - and ready to become a long list! Here's what's on my horizon for this week...
1. Work on the blocks for the tie/memory quilt. (This one has to be finished by Halloween.)
2. Quilt six quilts for Stash Builder Box!
3. Finish the pillow tops.
4. Quilt the orange peel top.
5. Mail two baby quilts to the soon-to-be parents!
6. Pull together a t-shirt quilt "portfolio" of sample designs and prices.
7. Keep up with any quilt ministry needs that one up.
That's definitely enough to keep me busy this week - that tie/memory quilt has to take priority with a quickly looming deadline!
So now the question is - - - what are YOU working on this week?
Hugs!
Sarah
This is my week for vacation (family reunion). I do have a machine, but, don't know if it will get used or not.
ReplyDeleteI'll be curious to see how you use the ties. For example whether you back them with interfacing and/or use a foundation. I have a whole bunch of ties and one of these days I hope to make them into a quilt, but I'm not sure of the best method.
ReplyDeleteBusy is a total understatement. I am making/cutting/sewing and trimming leaf blocks , to go into an unknown number of projects that I found on Carole's blog. You will see this at " From My Carolina Home" , called Autumn Jubilee.
ReplyDeleteHelped my Mom de-construct a whole lot of ties for three memory quilts to be made. I did the fusing too as she hates to use steam and couldn't understand why that fuseable wouln't stick. I am taking a day of slow stitching on my hexies.
ReplyDeleteThis week is a catch up, but I am caught between old and new projects. A Halloween hop is putting pressure on me to get a new wall hanging done, but a few customer quilts mean the long arm will be up and running, too. The cool weather is a great help up here in Ohio. I hope you have a little fall weather down there, too. Have fun, Sarah!
ReplyDeleteI love to travel too but always glad to get back home to my projects
ReplyDeleteI just started doing big stitch quilting. I have used no.8 pearl cotton and struggle to find a needle that is thin enough to pull through easily and with a big enough eye to get the cotton through. I want to see more of what you did with the men's ties.
ReplyDeleteFirst, I enjoy reading all your posts. Just finished the second quilt for a class that I will be teaching in January. New project, a t-shirt quilt for my daughter-in-law's brother. Started sorting, organizing and thinking about the layout and patterns to use in the quilt. Hopefully I will bring this up to Mt. Juliet at Thanksgiving so it can be sent to Italy, where he is stationed. Momma Llama, aka D. Weeks
ReplyDeleteI am working on little things for an arts and crafts festival. historically, they aren't money makers, but it should be fun, lol. Binding 2 quilts and waiting for 5 more to get quilted. :)
ReplyDeleteThis week I want to finish the scrap sorting... looking for a specific scrap to finish a tiny house while making some others. I also found a pig face paper piecing pattern I love, so maybe I'll make a few of those... Generally playing hooky from the wedding quilt that is so hard.

Very busy week ♥ Hugs ♥

How'd you luck out on a beach that wasn't affected by a tropical storm or hurricane? Admiring your big stitch hand quilting. Did you have any issue burying your knots into the sandwich?
