150 In 5 - A Cause With A Giveaway!

Hi, all!
This week will be a bit different here on Confessions of a Fabric Addict.  As many of you already know, my daughter and her family are in the process of adopting a young boy from China.  To aid in that process, Nancy has been making and selling necklaces to help raise the necessary funds.  Adoption is an expensive process and they have a large bill coming up, but my daughter has come up with a very ambitious idea that can only come to completion with a whole lot of help from God.  In an effort to assist her, I have offered her my blog as a platform this week.  Don’t worry - there will still be quilt-y stuff too - I have a great guest blogger lined up for Wednesday with an exciting quilt-y post for us, and I have at least one planned also - and yes, there will be Whoop Whoop Friday! But there will be some informational things too.
That being said, I’d like to introduce you to my beautiful daughter, Nancy, and let her share a bit of her story...
*&*&*&*&*&*&*
We, Chris and Nancy, met approximately twenty years ago as young children in church. We began dating as teenagers and were married in 2004. We were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Lilliana, in 2007.
After we had Lilliana in 2007 we decided to adopt our second child. We began the process to adopt from Ethiopia and were in that program for almost three years. Due to some changes in the adoption program, our timeline went from 9-12 months to almost 3 years overnight. We knew we still wanted to have another biological child so we decided to leave it in God’s hands about which child would join our family next. Two months later we got pregnant with Emmalyn and had to make the heartbreaking decision to leave the Ethiopian adoption program.
Just a few days after Emmalyn was born we found out that she is deaf. While this was difficult news to hear, we were so glad that our precious baby didn’t have a life-threatening issue. We are blessed to live in a time with many opportunities for deaf children. We have spent the last two years at many doctors appointments and in many speech therapy sessions.
A few months ago we realized we were ready to think about having another child. We decided that now was the time to adopt. And because of our experience with Emmalyn, our hearts were open to a child with special needs. I began checking listings of children in China that were considered to be “special focus.” This means that they are considered to be difficult to place because of their special need or their age. One night I stumbled across a photo of a gorgeous little boy who was listed as deaf. I requested to review his file and within a couple of days (full of prayer!) we knew he was our son!
We quickly filled out a lot of paperwork and requested a PA from China. A PA is a pre-approval to adopt our son and be matched to him. We received that PA a few weeks ago. We have just completed our homestudy and are working on submitting our dossier. Now we are on the journey to bring him home.
When God placed this adoption on our hearts, we knew he would have to move big mountains for it to be a reality for our family. And then we saw Nathanael’s face and we knew we would do whatever it took to bring him home.
We’ve already paid quite a few fees for this adoption, but we are faced with another large one very soon. I’ve been spending lots of time in prayer about this and God placed a big goal and dream on my heart. He challenged me with 150 in 5. Yes, you read that right. He has given me the goal and dream to sell 150 necklaces in just 5 days. This seems crazy to me, but I’ve learned that when my dreams seem unrealistic and crazy, God shows up. So here we go!
Here's a few of the available styles...

For the next 5 days, all current designs in the shop are $20 (including monograms) plus shipping if required.

a few more...

Me too!  You all have been so supportive in your comments on this blog when I have talked about their adoption process - now you have a chance to actively support it, get a great necklace (or more than one!) for a reasonable price, and have a chance to win not one, not two, but three more necklaces!  And I’ll testify - I’ve been wearing one of these necklaces almost daily for three months now, and it looks as good as it did the day Nancy gave it to me.  The quality is excellent!  They make great gifts, too - for example, just think what excellent bridesmaid gifts they’d be!

Just a note - if you leave a comment here requesting a necklace, please be sure to put your email address in the comment.  That way we’ll be sure to be able to reach you!  I’d hate for you not to hear back because you were a no-reply blogger and didn’t know it....

Stay tuned this week for more about this challenge.  We’ll be updating each day with her progress, so you can cheer her on!
