Hands2Help Comfort Quilt Challenge Week 11 - It's Time to Link Up Those Quilts!!

Hi, all!

Well, better late than never - with a long day driving on Saturday and all the busy-ness that Sunday entails, today's Hands2Help post completely slipped my mind.  Then, as I was sitting in my chair this evening going through email, I saw a message from someone who sent pictures of their quilts and I thought, "Hmmm, I guess I can post those on Friday..." and realized that I had forgotten the final link-up post!  So we're getting a late start, and for that I'm sorry!

And by the way, here are the quilts that jogged my memory...

These three beauties are from Janette B., and are going to either Victoria Quilts or MCC (she didn't specify which)...

...and these five are from Kristi B.  She didn't say where she sent them but aren't they wonderful?

And now it's your turn to link up and share your quilts.  If you think of it, let us know where you are donating them - I love seeing the variety of charities that benefit from Hands2Help and I'm sure others do too!  And if you don't have a blog, feel free to send your pictures to me (salliesue57 at gmail dot com) and I will share them on my blogposts this week.

And if, by chance, you have already sent your quilts off and neglected to take pictures of them, please email me (salliesue57 at gmail dot com) and let me know how many you made and where they went so we can get an accurate count for the end of the Challenge!

This link party will stay open until next Saturday, June 3rd, at 12 pm CST.  Let's see those beautiful quilts!!

Hugs!

Can I Get a Whoop Whoop? What a Fabulous Week!

Hi, all!

Well, it's Friday again - and we all know what that means!  It's time for us to get our whoop whoop on!  Are you ready?  Let's go!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

We've been at the beach all week, and having a fabulous time with it!  The weather has been gorgeous (except for one day, but I put that to good use) and we've been working hard at resting up!  It's a tough life, but someone's got to do it....

The food's been pretty amazing, too!  We love to eat breakfast out, and this was my on my plate one morning - cheese grits topped with scrambled eggs, tomatoes and onions, smothered in sausage gravy, with a side of biscuit and bacon!  And no, I couldn't eat it all!

And on that one rainy day, I pulled out my mother's old sewing machine, a beautiful (and well-worn) Featherweight...

...and got to work sewing.  We are working on a new project for the quilt ministry right now - bed quilts for a local women's shelter - and we needed five full size quilts, which isn't a common size for us.  But I had all those ten inch squares that I've been cutting, so I pulled out a whole bunch of them and brought them with me on this trip. After some sorting by color, I put together this top...

...and this one....

...and finally this one!

I've got enough squares with me for a couple more, but the weather for our last day is supposed to be gorgeous, so I've packed up my machine and will finish them after I get home.  But I'm happy with what I did accomplish!

And I'm not the only one who's been sewing - Juanita H. made this beautiful quilt as part of Hands2Help.  It's being donated to a local charity for their fundraiser.  Aren't those colors great together?

So - - - can we get a whoop whoop?

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

And now it's your turn!

What's got you whooping it up this week?

What's making you do a little happy dance?

Share!  We want to dance right along with you,

And it's always more fun to dance with friends!

The party will stay open until Sunday midnight.

Hope to see you there!

Hugs!

Make-A-List Monday - What to Do, What to Do?

Hi, all!

Amazingly, I haven't missed Monday - although Sunday kind of slipped right by me!  If you caught yesterday's blogpost, you may have tried to click on the link to Moira's blogpost and found that it didn't work.  Well, it's working now - so please click here and check out her post.  It's the last guest blogger post for this year's Hands2Help Challenge, and I'd hate for you to miss it - she's having a giveaway, too!

And just for kicks, I'm going to add to the giveaway fun - I've got a couple of panels to share, so just leave a comment  below if you're interested!  (Sorry for the quality of these pictures - I didn't have time to press the panels before taking them!)

But of course, the real purpose for Monday's post is to confess how I did on last week's list....

1.  Quilt the donation quilt.
2.  Quilt some baby tops to add into the box for Little Lambs.
Done!  After quilting the donation quilt, I loaded four yards of background fabric on the frame, and did a little "chain quilting"...

I think my inspector approves, don't you?

And here's the completed stack, all ready to mail off!  I had hoped to get them out before I left on vacation, but alas, I ran out of time...

3.  Package and mail prizes from last week.
Again, this was a victim of a short week - they will have to be sent out next week, after we return from vacation.

4.  Pick out some giveaway items for this Sunday.
You've seen them above - I'm just a little late posting them, for various reasons!

5.  Finish vacation kits.
Done!  I have 10" squares to make five full-size quilt tops for the quilt ministry, and another batch of 10" squares to make an X & + quilt, if time allows.

So what's on my plate for this week?  Well, not a whole lot (I AM on vacation, after all) but here's what might get done...

1.  Work on the five full-size tops.

2.  Work on the X&+ quilt top if time allows.

3.  Once home, package up and mail the giveaway items and the quilts for Little Lambs of Utah.

4.  Eat lots of good food, get lots of sun, read lots of good books!

We've already gotten a good start on that last one - the weather has been beautiful....

...the food delicious....

...and the wildlife has been friendly!  Meet Fred, the local colorful character who hangs out at the Shrimp Shack.  He walks around the patio like he owns the place!

And now, I really want to know - - - what are YOU working on this week?

Hugs!

Hands2Help Comfort Quilt Challenge Week 10 - Meet our Final Guest Blogger, Moira!

Hi, all!

Welcome to week 10 of this year's Hands2Help Comfort Quilt Challenge!  It's hard to believe, but we are almost at the end of the Challenge - next Sunday will be the beginning of the week to link your finished quilts!  But we have one more week to celebrate, and a great guest blogger to get us through it!

Moira, who blogs over at The Quilted Snail, has a wonderful blog.  She participates in a lot of blog hops, so there are always interesting things to see and connections with other great quilters, too!  And just this month, she did a post on inspiration that has me looking at things around me in a different light.  You should check it out!  So when you go to her guest post (click the name of her blog above to get there) take a look around.  And rumor has it she is having a giveaway, too!!!

And now I want to share more pictures I've received this week from our fellow (non-blogging) H2Hers.  Once again, the quilts they have shared are just amazing!

These three are from Dee F., and will all be going to Little Lambs of Utah.  There are going to be lots of lucky babies there this year!

These five were made by Diane D., and they are going to a group called Comfort Cases....

...and these three were also made by Diane D., and are going to Quilty Hugs for Happy Chemo!

And one more thing  before I close - I have a most sincere apology to make to the giveaway winners from last week.  I tried as hard as I could, but completely ran out of time this week - your packages did not go out before we left for vacation! But it is first thing on my list for when we get home.  I'm so so sorry!!

Now get to work finishing up those quilts, remember to take your pictures, and I'll see you next week!

Hugs!

Can I Get a Whoop Whoop? Beach Bound!

Hi, all!

Friday has rolled around once again, and we all know what that means - it's time for us to get our whoop whoop on!! Are you ready?  Let's go!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

I had a really short week this week, because we are leaving today for the beach (and that's REALLY whoop worthy!!) but I did get some quilting done....

I did a binding for a friend - isn't this a pretty quilt?

I also did a little chain quilting - all three of these quilts were able to be backed with a single selvage-to-selvage width of fabric, so I loaded several yards on my quilt frame and quilted these one right after the other!

And although I don't have any pictures of it in progress, I finished the Ribbon Box Quilt (the bottom one in this stack).  All of these are ready to be shipped to Little Lambs of Utah; three are part of Hands2Help, and the Ribbon Box Quilt is for their annual fundraiser auction!

And now for some beautiful quilts made for Hands2Help from some of our non-blogger friends!

Diane F. made all of these beauties to be donated to Hills and Hollers Ministries!

Melody B. made these eight to go to Little Lambs of Utah!

And Ruth C. made these three quilts and two pillowcases for Little Lambs!

And I have one last picture to share with you, because it was just so sweet... Yesterday Lilli had her last day of school, and I picked her up on early release.  She showed me the tennis ball she had been given by one of her teachers, stating that she was going to give it to Bree.  When we got home, they went outside to play for about fifteen minutes, and let me tell you, Bree had a ball, literally!  Then Lilli got tired and came to sit on the top step of the stairs.  Bree came bounding up and ran onto the porch, then turned around and looked like she was going to head back out.  She put her feet on the second step down, then looked at Lilli and plopped her butt down to sit right next to her.

Best Buds!!!

So - - - can we get a whoop whoop?

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

And now it's your turn!

What's got you whooping it up this week?

What's making you do a little happy dance?

Share! We want to dance right along with you,

And it's always more fun to dance with friends!

The party will stay open until midnight Sunday.

Hope to see you there!

Hugs!
