Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? A Different Kind of Week...

Hi, all!

Wow - is it Friday already?  This week has literally flown by, along with the rest of July.  Can you believe that next week it's August, and in most of the country, kids will be heading back to school within a few days or weeks?  I spent some extra time with the kids this week after my daughter reminded me that they start school next week (fingers crossed!) I'm kind of curious how my youngest granddaughter will do back in the classroom full time - she honestly never stops talking!

But enough chatter (I wonder where Emmy gets it from!) it's time for us to get our whoop whoop on!  Are you ready?  Let's get started!!!!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

Well, my week started off with a whimper instead of a bang, when Jolene decided (about one square foot from the end of a quilt) that she needed a spa day.  Much to her chagrin, it went from a simple spa day to pretty major surgery...

Yes, that's her upper drive on that table!

Joe, my repair guy, had to open her up e.v.e.r.y.w.h.e.r.e to get to the problem, but thanks to his superior skills, she's back to normal! And I didn't have to indenture any of the grandkids to him at the end of the day.... whew!

Hooray!!!  I'll need to get some ministry quilts on there (including that last square foot she left undone...) but she says she's ready to get back to work!

But don't think I was just sitting on my hands while Jolene was out of commission - I put the center of this memory quilt together, and cut some of the borders.  Hopefully this will be assembled sometime today!

And I put the binding on six quilts for the ministry - we're slowly but surely getting our stash built back up again.  Aren't they pretty?

So - - - can I get a whoop whoop?

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

And now it's your turn!

What's got you whooping it up this week?

What's making you do a little happy dance?

Share!  We want to dance right along with you,

And it's always more fun to dance with friends!

The party will stay open until Sunday midnight.

Hope to see you there!

Hugs!

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? This One's For Jolene...

Hi, all!

Wasn't it just Friday a couple of days ago?  Where does the week go??  Well, wherever it went, it's Friday again, and you know what that means - it's time to get our whoop whoop on!  Let's get started!!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

I have a different kind of whoop whoop today - earlier this week, when I needed to quilt a bunch of quilts for the ministry, my beautiful long arm machine started exhibiting some serious signs of wearing out.  (PS her name is Jolene.)  The needle up/down button and the jog button wouldn't work at first, until the machine warmed up, and the motor was running slower than usual.  One frantic call to my repairman, and an appointment was scheduled for next Tuesday.  He says it sounds like the brushes in the motor need some attention - whatever that means.  So I started working on some other, no-quilting-required, projects and gave Jolene a rest.

Then Thursday morning, my husband sent me a text saying that a friend of his needed a ministry quilt, and could I bring it when I met him for lunch.  Oh no!  Our stock at church (of finished quilts) is totally depleted, except for one that would not be appropriate for an adult man.  I did have a top and back at the house that would be perfect, but would Jolene cooperate enough to get it quilted?

Fingers crossed, I loaded it on the frame and started quilting...

...and God bless her, Jolene powered through to the end!  A quick binding job and a run through the steam cycle of the dryer - no time to wash this one - and it's time for the photo shoot!

This really is a beautiful quilt - lots of earth and forest toned batiks, and it's plenty big enough for a big guy.  Just goes to show that God has a plan - I just happened to have the right quilt at home waiting to go on the frame!

One more shot, just because it's pretty - and see that goofy brown dog to the left of the quilt?  Silly girl wouldn't come in the house this morning, so she spent her time terrorizing the mailman, the UPS man, and the FedEx guy!  She loves the cooler weather, and would stay outside all day if I'd let her - or even if I don't!

And one more whoop whoop - I finished the dolphin appliqué on Lilli's annual quilt!  Now once Jolene is back up and running, I can get all three quilts finished and I'll be ready for Christmas.  Keep your fingers crossed that Jolene's problem is a minor one, easily fixed!

So - - - can I get a whoop whoop??

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

Now it's your turn!

What's got you whooping it up this week?

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? A Very Good Week!!

Hi, all!

It's Friday again - and time to get your whoop whoop on!  It's also the start of Blogger's Quilt Festival - are you entering a quilt?  You can see my entry on the post just before this one.  It's a good story, but you'll need a hanky, I think…

But now let me show you all the things I'm whooping about this week!  First off, there's this…

Yes, FINALLY, those are new needle plates for Jolene!  I cornered the Tin Lizzie rep at the quilt show in Paducah and asked her why I was having to wait so long to get a replacement part for a machine her company manufactures - and she told me she could have one to me in a week!  Well, actually, it took about two weeks, but at least I have them!  WHOOP WHOOP!!

And look - Kate Spain bedding for my bed!  Kate posted about the new bedding that Macy's was carrying with her designs last week, and I went to check it out.  I got a super deal on it - I'm so excited! Such pretty summer colors - it's a print from Sunnyside...

And then there's Marie's whoop whoop - she made this beautiful Carpenter's Star quilt for a young woman who had been in a very bad car accident.  Marie did a great job!

And now my final whoop for the week - remember Karrie's great design that she shared with us on her guest post last Sunday?  Well, I just couldn't wait to try it, so when I found out I needed a quilt for an 11-year old boy,
I decided to give it a whirl!

Didn't it turn out pretty?  It was very easy - Karrie wrote a great pattern.  I did alter it a bit, making the blocks bigger to bring it up to 60" square instead of 40" square.

Can I get a whoop whoop??

*&*&*&*&*&*&*&*

And now it's your turn!

What's making you dance the happy dance this week?

Share with us - we want to dance along with you!!

The party will remain open until Sunday at midnight.

Hope to see you there!!

Hugs!
