Make-A-List Monday - Crunch Time!

Hi, all!

Wow, last week really flew by, didn't it?  And we are now officially into fall and the busy season - Halloween is this week and then stuff starts happening fast and furious!  I've been setting up Christmas parties this week, getting them on everyone's "save the date" list. But all the regular stuff goes on at the same time, so let's see how last week's list went...

1.  Quilt and bind the t-shirt commission quilt.

Done!  More pictures soon...

2.  Paint a backdrop for my Trunk or Treat display.

Done!  And I have lots more pictures I'll be posting on Friday!

3.  Sew the centers on the special request quilt.

Done, and it's on the frame ready to be quilted!

4.  Make progress on the My Small World quilts.

I finished the rest of the blocks for the quilt-along (month of 10/15-11/15) and here they are in all their glory!  Top to bottom, they are: Lilli's, Emmy's, Nathanael's.

5.  Prep for my Joann's class this week.

Done!  And it was a great first class - a good way to dip my toe in the water of teaching.  These are the blocks we pieced!

6.  Keep up with any quilt ministry needs that come up.

Done!  We gave away a few quilts this week...

These three went to a father, mother, and sister of a young man who died very unexpectedly while on a mission trip with his parents last week.  The father is the pastor  of a church our church partners with in Oregon.

And this quilt went to a gentleman diagnosed with stage 4 cancer last week.

And just in case you missed it, I had a "squirrel" moment and made this cute little pinny from scraps left over from the blocks I made for the My Small World quilts...

So that was my week!  I got lots done, but still have more to do than I can possibly get done, so here's my list for this week...

1.  Quilt the dresden plate quilt.

2.  Make progress on the My Small World quilts.

3.  Make a back for my Patchwork Forest QAL quilt.

4.  Quilt one customer quilt.

5.  Quilt at least one quilt for the quilt ministry.

6.  Start prepping for the quilt ministry Christmas party - a special sewing day as we all work on our own Patchwork Forest quilts!

7.  Start deep cleaning the house before upcoming Christmas parties (oh how I hate cleaning!).  I should probably start by making a list - and checking it twice!

8.  Keep up with any quilt ministry needs that come up.

I definitely won't have time to get up to any mischief this week!  And there are so many things I could add to this list - but I'd rather have a list I can finish than one that depresses me.  So we'll stick with this, and if I have any spare time, I'll pull one of the other projects to work on.

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? Truck-or-Treat!

Hi, all!

Friday is here once again (how does that keep happening?) and it's time for us to get our whoop whoop on!  Are you ready?  I am - can't wait to share what I've been teasing about for the past week or so... Let's go!

You may remember the things I've been making lately...

...a giant pincushion, pins and needle...

...and a giant tape measure!  

Well, here's what those things were for...

Truck-or-Treat!

My husband wanted to use his truck instead of my car, and since he came up with the theme, it only seemed fair!

In case you haven't figured it out yet, our theme was "Alice in Quilterland"...

My mom's Featherweight made an appearance, too...

And of course, I had to print out one of these to go on our candy basket!

I am so grateful that there is a wealth of graphics on the internet available to be printed out - it really helped us flesh out our "Alice" theme!  And for those of you who asked about the giant tape measure, I made it using 4" wide yellow ribbon and a black sharpie.  My marks are 1" apart and measure 1", 1.5",  2", and 4" long.  Quilting rulers really made this an easy task!  Oh, and the calligraphy doodling I've been doing lately - although you could probably trace the numbers on, too.

And one last thing I'm whooping about this week - my husband got me this cool saddle stool for my birthday!  I saw one like this at the AQS show in Paducah but even on show special prices it seemed a bit expensive. Amazon is a wonderful place!  My hubby saved about $100 over the show price.  It's adjustable, too - it goes from table height to counter height easily, and rolls everywhere.  I used it while spending a day cutting, I've been using it while piecing, and I plan to give it a try when I do some quilting at the long arm.  It's definitely helped with upper and lower back pain so far! Plus it's a lot softer to sit on than my hard stool...

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? Pushing the Season...

Hi, all!

Wow, it's Friday again!!  Can you believe it? And you know what that means - it's time to get our whoop whoop on!!!  Are you ready?  Let's get started!

This week, I kind of "pushed the season" and made some cute Halloween pillow covers...

These were pretty simple - I took a charm pack of Halloween fabric and cut it into 2.5" squares, then added enough solid orange to have enough squares (192) to make three 16" pillow covers.  I laid the squares out on fusible interfacing, then ironed to secure them down.  I folded the fusible interfacing on the first vertical gridline (where the squares touch) and stitched a 1/4" seam.  Repeated for all the vertical lines, then cut them open and pressed them open.  Repeated the whole process for the horizontal lines, and when I was finished I had perfectly matched corners and a piece just the right size for a 16" pillow cover!  I found the silhouettes on Google Images, printed them out and traced them onto fusible webbing and applied to black Kona cotton.  Backing and binding and aren't they cute?

And they already have a new home!!

And I had another whoop whoop moment today...

My new Kona color chart came today!!!  Aren't those colors just gorgeous?  It makes me smile just to see it...
