Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? You Missed Me!

Hi, all!

It's Friday, and we all know what that means - it's time for us to get our whoop whoop on!!  So without further ado, let's get to it!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

Many of you messaged or emailed me this week, asking if everything was ok - since I apparently dropped off the face of the earth last week! Well, there is a good reason for that, and her name is Bree...

She is a 13-week old mini Australian Shepherd, which is basically the equivalent of a two-year old!  She's changed a bit from the day we got her...

...but apparently our choice of name was not only good, but prophetic. If you are an Outlander fan, you may recall that in Gaelic, the word "bree" means a great disturbance - and she really is!  Having a young puppy is rather like having a toddler that bites constantly.  We call her various names in addition to Bree - she's alternately known as The Kraken (as in "release the Kraken")...

...or Fancy Pants - don't you just love her racing stripes?  And today I added WMD (Weapon of Mass Destruction) to her list of names, as she spent most of the day trying to demolish her toys.

She does occasionally rest, and when she does, she's a really sweet girl!  Just as with babies, this is why we put up with them.  While they are resting, we forget about all the mayhem they create!

She's quite a snuggler, too.  Once she has chewed our hands into submission, she likes to curl up in our laps for a little nap.  Unfortunately, she isn't big on laptops sharing that space, which helps explain my absence!

She's finally getting close to sleeping through the night, which will help a lot I think.  There's still lots of exploring for her to do, and  she's a curious little thing.  I spend much of my day chasing her around and making sure she's not destroying anything important.  She hears the word "no" a lot, but it doesn't seem to make an impression on her yet!

So - - - can I get (an exhausted) whoop whoop?

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

And now it's your turn!

What's got you whooping it up this week?

What's making you do a little happy dance?

Share!  We want to dance right along with you,

And it's always more fun to dance with friends!

The party will stay open until Sunday midnight.

Hope to see you there!

Hugs!

Sarah

  2. Phew!!! You'll be so busy, like we were when a stray little kitten arrived at our back door, Toilet training, cleaning up messes, teaching to eat, and sleep. Bree looks so adorable, she'll settle into a quieter routine soon ( I hope).

  5. OMG! What a cutie!!! I feel your *pain*, lol!!! Izzy joined our family about 3 months ago. She is a mini golden doodle. There have been a few times I have been ready to throw in the towel! I decided we needed some help and I enrolled both of us in puppy training classes. We had our first one last night. She really is a good puppy, we just need to work together. Thank goodness we have a lifetime!

  6. I once took a month off work calling it "family leave" to welcome two golden pups into our home. It was needed and time well spent. Except for the hand chewing those are precious days. Fancy Pants/Bree is adorable. Have fun :-)

  11. What an adorable puppy - I'm sure you're enjoying the fun antics! The not-so-fun ones, maybe not, but hopefully it's just for a little time. I've been trying to link up but keep getting an error message.

  12. Congratulations! My Aussie was my constant companion for 16 years. When she was about that size, I would tether her to my sewing chair, band she became convinced that I couldn't sew without her. Enjoy her and share lots f pictures!

  13. she's adorable. You reminded me of what a terror our dog Milo was. Once I picked him up mid tantrum and said "you can be returned you know" and I swear he stopped snapping and biting for a moment. He is 4 and the BEST friend a person could have, gentle and sweet and funny and smart. For the better part of his first year he chewed on us though, still destroys toys for fun, still puts his mouth on our arms to get us to go play but now doesn't bite down at all. I know now he was very sensitive, and got overstimulated, and needed a nap but wouldn't lie down. I learned to put him in his crate when he got too wound up, and he'd cry for 15 seconds and fall asleep, then come out calm. A dog trainer told me to let him have more quiet time. Our arms were shredded for months. Also he needed more one on one time than our other dogs and needed to sleep with us to make it thru the night. He was our only dog to throw anger tantrums on walks when I took rocks out of his mouth too! But again, around 2 he turned into an angel who is compliant and loving and a great member of our wee family of three! Bree is so cute and betcha she's so smart and being so smart isn't easy on a doggie, they gotta learn to control it! Beware of cords... teach her the word "drop" means anything in her mouth comes out. Teach her words daily because she can learn them and training tires out their mental selves. I am fully in for watching her grow up here! A bit missing a puppy but then I need sleep too... LeeAnna

  14. Oh my gosh, Sarah -- my mom has a mini Australian shepherd and he is a HANDFUL, way beyond his puppy stage! "Release the kraken" and "disturbance" indeed, but she just adores him and he definitely keeps her active and on her toes. I hope you and your husband love and enjoy your little Bree as much as my mom loves her "David, the Little Shepherd Boy!"

  15. What a sweet face! Disturbance? Well, maybe mischief. (Watch those cords.) Yes, I did miss you because I finally had a finish to share. But this week works, too. :) And I can see that you had your hands full of love.

  17. Oh, a baby in the house!!! You always can tell a new parent by the droopy sleepless eyes, the soiled clothing, and the look that says: "isn't this a little angel?!" Hee hee....
