Can I get a Whoop-Whoop?? Nearing the Finish Line....And A Giveaway?

Hi, all!

It's that time again - are you ready to get (and give) your whoop whoops?  I hope you're planning to link up this week - because I've got a really good reason for you to do it!  Next week, February 25th, there'll be a giveaway (whoop whoop!!!) and if you link up this week, you'll get an extra entry next week!  Spread the word this week about the giveaway next Friday, and you'll get another entry!  Plus you'll get one when you link up next week - so three chances at some really great loot!  I don't have any pictures of the giveaway items to show you, but I will give you a little hint - remember the scene in the forest in the Wizard of Oz?  Imagine if Dorothy, the Tin Man, and the Scarecrow were saying, "Yardage and fat quarters and charms, oh my!"

(((I did have one person ask this week if putting the button on their blog was what I meant by linking up - so if you're new to linky parties, here's the skinny - to link up, you write a blog post or post a picture to flickr of your week's accomplishment.  If it's a blog post, click on the title of the post, then copy the url address in the internet browser.  If it's a flickr pic, click on the pic, then copy the url address from the internet browser.  Come over to the linky party, and at the end of my blog post, it will say something like "You're Next" - click on that, and enter your information in the blanks.  It will also ask you to choose a picture to put on the linky party, and you can choose one from your blog post or your flickr pic.  If any of this doesn't work, e-mail me and I'll try to help you.  And remember, the linky party is open from Friday at 12:01 a.m CST until Saturday at 12:00 p.m. CST - so you have two full days to link up!)))

Most of this week, I've been working on the commission quilt - - and as of Thursday evening, it's close to being a finished flimsy....

Once again, blurry - but I promise
nice clear pictures next week!!

But I also made two pillows for my husband for Valentine's Day, so the week wasn't a total wash!

This one is called Jazz Nights in the City - named for the outer border fabric, which features lots of instruments and the word "jazz" on it.  The patch pieces in the center are architectural prints, so it just seemed to go well with the jazz fabric!  My husband's dearest desire is to go to a jazz club in NYC!

And this pillow is called Rock and Roll at the Orange Bowl - growing up in Miami, my hubby was a huge Dolphins fan (their colors are teal and orange!) back when they played in the Orange Bowl - and he once participated in a rock and roll half-time show there!

So those are my accomplishments for the week - - - can I get a whoop whoop??

And don't forget - spread the word about next Friday's giveaway and plan to link up next week, too!

And one more thing - come back here on Sunday to see who's being featured on Surfin' Sunday - it's a great blog, and guess what?  The blogger is offering some goodies to give away!!  You won't want to miss this one!!

Toddlerless Tuesday #21! Good Things on the Horizon!!

Hi, all!!

Don't you love that little face?  I miss her on Tuesdays, but I do get much more done when she's in school than when she's here with me - she really wants to help and that usually means being right in the middle of everything!!

There was lots of little sewing today at my house during the toddlerless hours - it's amazing that it takes just as long to make fifty little blocks as it does to make fifty big blocks!  But I finally finished the blocks for the commission quilt, and tomorrow I start arranging them in the final design......

Small and out of focus just in case....

I also want to show you two baby quilts that we delivered this week for the quilt ministry...  The pretty little pink one, made by my friend Sharia, is called "New Kid On The Block".  The blocks are stacked raw edge applique, and it's backed with warm, cuddly fleece.

The one to the right, made by my friend Connie, is a wonderful, soft, crinkly cotton that makes me think of sunshine and blue skies.  It's backed in a pretty blue, yellow and white floral print.

And now, some news about upcoming stuff!!

Pay attention, this is good!!

Anybody out there like giveaways?

Here's the skinny - first, it's all about "Can I Get A Whoop Whoop" Fridays.  I've got some really great loot for a giveaway - you won't want to miss this.  But you need to start planning now - because even though the giveaway won't be until Friday, February 25th, if you link up this week, you'll get an extra chance at winning!  Remember, you don't have to actually finish something, you can link up anything crafty you're proud of having done this week!  The guidelines can be found in the bar at the top of my blog, but it's really simple - if you wanted to do a happy dance this week, tell us about it!!

And here's another giveaway - this one will be this Sunday, February 20th!  I've got a great blog to share with you on Surfin' Sunday's feature, and the blogger is offering some fabulous goodies!!  So be sure to check in on Sunday to see what I've got for you!!

Make-A-List Monday #34! Happy Valentine's Day!!

Hi, all!

Happy Valentine's Day!  I hope you are having a wonderful day - we've had beautiful weather here this weekend (it was 67 degrees here yesterday!)  Such a change after the cold and snowy weather we've had this year - it really puts me in the mood for spring!  And spring makes me want to get creative!

I got a good bit done last week ......

1.  Work on blocks for a commissioned quilt. (Paying work - I love it!)
I made about 25 of these blocks (all I had the necessary ingredients for) so it's coming along nicely!

2.  Work on blocks for a red and white ministry quilt.
Done - the flimsy is completely finished and ready for quilting!

3.  Pull fabrics for our Saturday sewing get together - we're making mug rugs for our church group to take on a mission trip to Peru as gifts for the school teachers
in the town they will be working in.
Done - we had a great time, and made a big pile of mug rugs!!

4.  Make a pillow by this pattern for Lilli for Valentine's Day!
Done!  I not only made this one for Lilli...

I made these two for Bill on Sunday!!

So what's on the to-do list for this week?

1.  Finish piecing the commission quilt.

2.  Quilt the commission quilt.

3.  Quilt the red and white ministry quilt.

4.  Quilt another ministry quilt.

5.  Finish hand stitching the binding on some of Saturday's mug rugs.

Whew!  I think that's enough for one week!
