Oh look, a bunny!

Hi, all!

My wonderful friend P. from The Way I Sew It has awarded me with my very first blogging award, the Versatile Blogger award!  Thank you so much, P.!  I'm not worthy!!!  {happy dance happy dance}

I love that she thought of me!  After I read her wonderfully creative post, I started thinking about what to say in mine - and wondered about the various definitions of the word "versatile".  My friend Google listed many definitions - a person having many skills, being able to move in more than one direction, having varied uses or serving many functions - but I think my favorite and most apt (at least for me!) is "turning with ease from one thing to another; readily applied to a new task..."  As many of you know, I am seriously finish-challenged, something which I've been trying hard to work on this year!  But it seems only appropriate that I now have an award for being able to drop one project and pick up another!

The award did come with some rules, which are meant to be broken:

  • Thank and link back to the person who gave you the award. (Check!)
  • Share 7 things about yourself.
  • Pass the award to 15 blogs you enjoy and let them know they've been given the award.

Okay, here goes.

Seven things about myself:

1.  I grew up in Miami, Florida, quite possibly the most "Yankee" place south of the Mason-Dixon line.  I've lived in the deep south since 1980, but I still have a hard time understanding "southern" sometimes!  However, I have picked up a respectable southern drawl......

2.  I love to play with power tools.  My favorite Mother's Day gift from my husband was my very own compressor and two nail guns!  My granddaughter takes after me in this - so I have to keep them away from her or she'd take off and use them herself!

3.  When I was ten, my dad let me fly with a friend of his in a teeny-tiny acrobatic airplane - we did loops, barrel rolls, and hammerhead stalls. If my mother had seen it, she'd have croaked!!  It sure was fun, though!

4.  I used to work in retail, and have had both "Radar" O'Reilly from M*A*S*H (Gary Burghoff) and George Carlin come into my store!

5.  I had a whole roast pig, complete with apple in it's mouth, at my wedding reception - and didn't get a bite!  The first place we went after leaving the reception was Burger King for some food!!

6.  Our family will soon go international when my daughter and son-in-law adopt a child (or children!) from Ethiopia!

7.  In my craft room I have a potter's wheel that I enjoy using and hope to get back to soon - I had to stop because Lilli was too little to understand why she couldn't "help" and it's a really messy process - but now I think she's old enough to enjoy playing with clay on her own while I throw some pots!

And I think my friend P. had a great philosophy about this -  please don't feel obligated to be a rule-follower if this seems like too much work. After all, it's that time of year where we should be kicking back and enjoying life to its fullest.   But I want each of you, and actually all of my bloggy friends, to know just how much you are appreciated!!  Thanks to all of you!!

Later!

Sarah

  1. I'm a little envious of your #3 and #4 (George Carlin!). If you get back into #7, I'd love to see your pots. I have a small handmade pottery collection.

You, finish-challenged? You seem like one of the most productive people I know!

  3. sarah, thank you so much for including my little blog. You know I'm embarking on a long drive this week, so blogging will be minimal at best and quilting even less...imagine that!!!
Thanks for all your quilty encouragement...it means a lot!!

  5. Really enjoyed reading the 7 things about you. Had to laugh that you had an entire roast pig for your wedding and didn't eat any of it. What a great memory.

Now I'll have to check out the blogs of the people you passed on the award to.
