Well, Wednesday has snuck up on me - again! But I do have a couple of things to show you so today won't be a total waste!
I did work on that unmentionable tub this week, pressing, folding, and filing the scraps away in their correct color bin. Still haven't hit the bottom, but at least I made some progress! And I have a plan. Remember this quilt?
Well, it looks like my desire to make this quilt, my blue tub's overflowing status, and my my granddaughter's newly confessed love of anything blue have all converged - she likes this quilt and wants it as the design for her annual quilt this year. And now that I look at it, I'm wondering how it would look with scrappy blues as the background and the rings done in lighter neutrals? Oh, the possibilities!!
And the idea stuck in my head, so I headed over to EQ7 and did a mockup...
Oh my!!! I think I'd call this version "Something Blue..."
Next up - this pillow...
I actually made this a couple of weeks ago, but I don't think I shared it on the blog. It's made using some scraps from a commission quilt I made earlier in the year. Feels good to put those pretty scraps to good use!
And last up, this great inspiration shot - I have a huge tub of solid scraps that are just screaming at me to MAKE. THIS. QUILT!! Oh, for more hours in the day.....
I do hope that you've seen the sneak peeks I've been sharing of this year's 12 Days of Christmas in July quilt-along quilt - and one of my readers, Louise H., has announced that she plans to make a scrappy version. I cannot wait to see how that turns out!! Hopefully she'll share lots of process shots..... If you're interested in making one of your own, I've posted the fabric requirements and some tool suggestions on this post. The quilt-along starts this Saturday, July 14th, and in about an hour a day, you can have a pretty quilt top by the end of the 12 days of the hop! I've got a winter version, a Christmas version, and a version that would be perfect for Quilts of Valor! Check out the post, then tune in for the hop - I'll post each day to give you the next step in the quilt!
So that's my week in scraps - what have you been working on?
Hugs!
Sarah
The 'Something Blue' quilt would look awesome! Where is there a pattern for this quilt design? Always enjoy seeing and reading your wonderful posts. The little heart pillow is adorable!
ReplyDeleteAn annual quilt. I am lucky if my 2 children will get one quilt each from me. Of course that may change if I ever retire. I love the look of "Something Blue".
ReplyDeleteThat summer wedding quilt will be so pretty in your version of all blues!
ReplyDeleteI love your Christmas quilt. I need to think on some possible yardage and see how the schedule works. Of course next week is jam packed with stuff!! LOL It's Fair week here, so gotta for get some good food and see if my entries were ribbon worthy.
ReplyDeletemy scrap attack for july....among others...and i agree about more hours in a day....i need them too!
ReplyDeleteLove watching a quilt maker's interpretation of our patterns. Can't wait to see how yours evolves with all the beautiful blues.
ReplyDeleteI’m curious how complex the construction is on Summer Wedding. Look forward to watching progress.
ReplyDeleteLove that pillow and would love to create a couple with railroad fabric scraps I have on hand. I know they would be a hit at the Tehachapi Depot Railroad Museum gift shop! Do you happen to have a pattern for it? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLove the pillow and the "Something Blue" version of the quilt for your Granddaughter! I've been working on my row-by-row quilt (made with scraps!) and only have one more seam to go and that top is finished. Then to get it basted so that I can quilt it. =)
ReplyDeleteLove the dark blue (black?) floral fabric framing the heart pillow. Any chance you remember what it is?
ReplyDeleteSummer Wedding is a really neat pattern! It's going to look great as "Something Blue" :) OK, now you've motivated me to get my blog up to date so I can write about the 12 Days QAL!
ReplyDeleteSo I like your something blue version better than the original, now will you share whose pattern the red and green quilt is so I can make one too????
