Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? Let The Fun Begin!

Hi, all!

Fall, Friday, and fun!  What could be better?  I do love this season - the cooler weather, shorter days, and the colors of fall.  Plus the holidays just around the corner - can you believe that there are only eleven more Fridays until Christmas? (Sorry for those of you who like to live in denial...)  But Friday also means it's time for us to get our whoop whoop on - are you ready?  Let's go!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

It's been a busy and productive week in my studio!  First of all, I finished this pretty table runner...

Tons and tons of matchstick quilting on this one, but I love the texture!

And I had just the perfect piece for the back.  It's even pretty on the back side - the matchstick quilting is fun!

And then I finished Lilli's annual quilt!  I need to share the story behind this one - the top was donated to our quilt ministry, but as a holiday quilt (and king size!) it didn't fit our parameters for the quilts we gift, as we want people to be able to use their quilts year round.  So I bought it from the ministry, thinking I would finish it for one of my own beds.  But my oldest granddaughter spotted it and asked if she could have it for her annual quilt, and of course, I said yes!  But as a king size, it was much too big for her full size bed.  So we made it a bit smaller by removing some of the blocks, and now it's the perfect size.  And the extra blocks will make lovely pillows!

With these two completions, I have finished all my Christmas present sewing, and everything I work on now is for fun!  And that is DEFINITELY worth a whoop whoop!

And here's another thing worth whooping over - I managed to keep my youngest granddaughter's fish alive while they were out of town!  That sounds silly, but I'm always worried I'm going to have to find a look-alike fish if something happens while they are gone. Thankfully, this time all went well, because while it's hard to see, this is a rather distinctive looking fish and I think it would be hard to match!

So - - - can I get a whoop whoop?

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

And now it's your turn!

What's got you whooping it up this week?

What's making you do a little happy dance?

Share!  We want to dance right along with you,

And it's always more fun to dance with friends!

The party will stay open until Sunday midnight.

Hope to see you there!

Hugs!

Make-A-List Monday - Making Progress!

Hi, all!

It's been a weird day today, with Instagram down most of the day!  Those of you who are still on Facebook probably noticed it too.  I'm so happy it's finally back up - I didn't realize how much fun I was having sharing my progress in the WIPs-B-Gone 2021 challenge until I couldn't do it!  But thankfully it's back up, plus I get to share with all of you too here - so let's get started!

Here's how last week's list went....

1.  Quilt the hockey quilt.
Done!  This is a gift, so I'm going to keep it a bit under wraps until later, but it's done!

2.  Assemble the second half of my vacation quilt.
Done!  Here it is all laid out so you can see how large this quilt is - I'll be quilting it in two halves, then joining them together.

3.  Work on the Christmas pillow covers.
This is definitely a Work In Progress - I didn't do much on these this week, but I did print out the letters that I will use to make the appliqués for these pillows!  More progress next week...

4.  Make some Endless Summer blocks.
I didn't work on these this week - they got pushed aside for another project I'll share in a minute!

5.  Quilt the cat wall hanging.
This WIP is finished!  I am loving the way this turned out, and I'll be sharing more about this one later this week!

And then, instead of working on the Endless Summer blocks, I laid this snowflake quilt WIP out on the design wall (with Lilli's help!) and started assembling it.  The top twelve rows are completely done, only ten more to go!

Honestly, this WIP challenge has been the best thing!  Granted, I started with Christmas presents that would be finished this year anyway, but getting those out of the way quickly has motivated me to drag out some much older WIPS and finish them up, too!

And here's what I'll be working on this week...

1.  Quilt Lilli's annual quilt (while she's out of town and not looking over my shoulder!)

2.  Work on those Christmas pillow covers!

3.  Hem three pairs of yoga pants.

4.  Make at least one Endless Summer block!

5.  Finish assembling the snowflake quilt.

6.  Make a back for the snowflake quilt.

7.  Make a back for the spool quilt.

8.  Quilt a ministry quilt.

Definitely enough to keep me out of trouble for at least a few days!  My priority will be Lilli's quilt - as she's on vacation, I can quilt it so it will be at least partly a surprise.  She knows what she's getting, since she picked it out, but I hope to have at least one or two surprises for her!

So now, my only question is - - - what are YOU working on this week?

Hugs!

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? WIP Progress!

Hi, all!

Welcome to the first Friday in October!  Have the leaves started changing color where you are?  I love this time of year, probably because I grew up in Miami, FL where the leaves NEVER change, and I'm enjoying watching the tree outside my sewing room window.  Every day there's a little more color showing!  While that's whoop-worthy, I bet I can come up with some sewing whoop-whoops, too, and I imagine you've got some too.  So let's get started!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

It's been a busy week at my place!  I've been having so much fun working on my WIPs as part of the WIPs-B-Gone 2021 Challenge hosted by Leanne (@devotedquilter on Instagram)!  My first bit of progress this week came on this quilt...

You might recognize this as my vacation project - a king size postage stamp quilt made with lots of the Kate Spain fabrics I've been hoarding for years.  Up until this week it was a pile of 25-patch blocks, but now it has been assembled into two halves, all ready for quilting.  This quilt is too large to fit on my frame fully assembled, so I will quilt each half, then join them.  I did that for my king-size Christmas quilt, and it worked beautifully!

I also finished the hockey quilt, which I don't want to show yet because it is a Christmas gift.  But it is joining both Nathanael's and Emmy's quilts as finished and ready for gifting!  Lilli's will go on the frame sometime next week, while they are on spring break and away on vacation.

And last but certainly not least, I brushed off this very old WIP, of which I had pieced about 1/5.  I started laying it out on the wall and realized that I was very short on print background pieces!  So I regrouped, reduced the size a little bit by eliminating two rows of print blocks on the top and one on the left side, and added a few teal print blocks that worked well with the other prints.  Next step will be sewing it all together!

So - - - can I get a whoop whoop?

*&*&*&*&*&*&*
