Make-A-List Monday - It's A Good Week For Quilting!

Hi, all!

January is just zipping by, isn't it?  It's hard to believe it's almost over!  But it's been good start to the year so far, and there's lots more fun to come!  The Rockin' Rectangles quilt-along starts this coming Sunday, and Hands2Help is just around the corner.  But for now let's just see how last week went...

1.  Deconstruct garments for a memory quilt.
Done!  They are now a pile of flat pieces just waiting to be pressed and cut up into quilt pieces!

2.  Take "before" photos of a vintage quilt to be repaired.
Done!  This quilt is in desperate need of repair but it has been well loved and is definitely worth it!

3.  Quilt and bind at least two quilts for the ministry.
I put binding on two quilts but didn't quilt them myself. Thankful for good friends in the quilt ministry!  Thanks to a lot of hard work, we now have a stash of quilts on hand and ready to be given to folks in need.

4.  Finish the last two prototypes for the Rockin' Rectangles series.
Done!  I finished the last one this afternoon, and tomorrow I'll figure out the backing.  Gotta get these babies on the quilt frame!

5.  Put away the rest of Christmas.
A-l-m-o-s-t done.  I should probably invite some folks for dinner so I have a deadline for getting this done!

6.  Start cleaning my office space.
Started!  And no, I'm not going to show any before pics - because it was really horrible!  You'll have to trust me on that.
#honestoffice my foot!

7.  Keep up with any quilt ministry needs that come up.
Done!  This quilt went to a woman who fell and broke her femur last week...

...and this quilt went to a woman who was discovered to have a tumor in her lung and another behind her eye.

We also gave away a third quilt to a woman with serious lung issues, but I do not have a picture of that quilt.

So while I didn't get everything completely done, I'm happy with what did get done.  I think this week will be heavy into quilting as I finish up the prototypes for the Rockin' Rectangles series.  Here's what I'm hoping to get done...

1.  Find backings for the last two Rockin' Rectangles quilts.

2.  Quilt at least two of the Rockin' Rectangles quilts.

3.  Quilt a ministry quilt for an adoption.

4. Quilt two additional ministry quilts.

5.  Write at least one Rockin' Rectangles tutorial.

6.  Cut pieces for the memory quilt.

7.  Keep up with any quilt ministry needs that come up.

A busy week ahead, for sure!  I can see that Jolene is going to get a serious workout.

Be sure to put Sunday on your calendar, and check back by to see the first of the Rockin' Rectangles quilts and tutorial.  These will all be easy quilts, perfect if you want to participate in the Hands2Help Comfort Quilt Challenge this year!  Feel free to grab the buttons (in the right hand side bar above) if you want to add them to your blog.  Let's spread the word!  You can read a little bit more about the preparation for this year's event here.

And now, the question is - - - what are YOU working on this week?

Hugs!

It's That Time of Year....

Hi, all!

It's hard to believe, but it's almost that time of year - time for us to start quilting for others again!  Someone commented last year that they thought the term "charity quilt" might make the recipients feel bad, so this year I've changed it just a little bit...

...and the new name is the Hands2Help Comfort Quilt Challenge 2019!  I like the change, and I think it's a good one.  After all, there's nothing more comforting than a quilt (except maybe chocolate!)

But before that starts, we'll once again have a series of tutorials for simple quilts you might want to use for your comfort quilts. This year the theme is "Rockin' Rectangles", and I'll be sharing six different quilts (with tutorials) starting next Sunday, January 27th and running through March 3rd.  I'm excited about these six quilts and I hope you will be too!

Hands2Help 2019 will start on March 10th and run through the end of May.  I haven't worked out the final calendar yet - hopefully it will be posted on the Hands2Help 2019 Page under my blog header sometime this week.

And now I'm going to ask you for some help with H2H.  As you know, we try to have a little something for each person who participates to say thank you.  We have wonderful sponsors who contribute to the cause and enable us to do this.  However, we keep getting more and more people participating, which is AWESOME!  But it does make it harder to gather up all the goodies necessary.  So - if you have an "in" with, say, a fabric company, pattern designer, book publisher, author, notions manufacturer, etc., would you be willing to see if they would like to help sponsor Hands2Help?  If you'd like more info about how you can help, please email me directly at salliesue57 (at) gmail (dot) com.

I'm also looking for people who are willing to be guest bloggers!  I'd like to have six guest bloggers this year, and you could be one of them.  Your post could be about your favorite quilt charity, a simple quilt you love to make (with or without tutorial), a group you work with to make comfort quilts, or maybe you've got your own idea - it's all good and it's fun to share!  If you're interested in doing this, please contact me directly at salliesue57 (at) gmail (dot) com.

You can also help spread the word by grabbing either or both of the buttons to post on your blog or on Instagram - you'll find them in the right sidebar at the top.

Are you as excited about all this as I am? I sure hope so!  Bear with me while I get the Page updated, and then you'll be able to sign up for this year's Challenge.

Hugs!

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? A Whole Lotta Nothing....

Hi, all!

Friday has rolled around again (so fast!) and that means it's time for us to get our whoop whoop on!  My week went by in a rush of multiple projects, none at any interesting stage, but I did do a few things that might be worth sharing.  So let's get started!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

As I said, it's been a crazy week - lots of time spent with plumbers, a little time spent with my grandkids (wish that was more!), and a bunch of short times of sewing.  No finishes on that front, though.  However, I did have a few fun things happen...

My swap buttons for QuiltCon arrived!

I think I've settled on a design for this year's Hands2Help avatar...

...and one for this year's comfort quilt tutorial series!

And I did get a little bit of sewing done, as attested to by this pile of trimmings - and there were lots more in the trash can!

And last, but DEFINITELY not least, I now have a working toilet in my bathroom!  Our toilet had worn out (who knew they could do that)?) and the plumber finally replaced it today.  Woohoo!!

So a weird little week, but I still want to say - - -
Can I get a whoop whoop??

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

And now it's your turn!

What's got you whooping it up this week?

What's making you do a little happy dance?

Share!  We want to dance right along with you,

And it's always more fun to dance with friends!

The party will stay open until Sunday midnight.

Hope to see you there!

Hugs!
