Make-A-List Monday - Oh My Goodness!

Hi, all!

Oh my goodness!  I am absolutely blown away by the response we've had to the Christmas in July giveaway/fundraiser! We have already passed $1000 in donations, and there's still almost two weeks to go!!  Of course, that's keeping me busy, as I promised to add a quilt to the giveaway each time we passed a $500 mark - I'm finishing up the third one right now and thinking about what to make for the fourth.  Good thing I've got a nice stash of materials - sometimes it pays to be a fabric addict!

But for now, let's see how I did on last week's list...

1.  Finish the potential giveaway quilt I'm working on right now.
Almost finished!  I'm so happy with the way this is turning out. I still need to do a bit more quilting on it and bind it.

And I'm very, very happy to say that since we've passed $1000 in donations to help #bringNathanaelhome, this quilt will join the other two in the giveaway/fundraiser!  Three people will now take home a quilt!  You can read details on the giveaway here - hurry because entries close on Thursday, 7/24 at 6 pm CST!

2.  Print labels and attach them to the H2H quilts for Hurricane Sandy survivors.
Done, thanks to a lot of help from my sewing siblings at church!!  We labeled thirty quilts that went to New York with the senior high mission team on their summer mission trip this week.  We will send more quilts in October when they return!  I'll share pics of all 30 that were sent later this week.

3.  Finish the table topper.
Nope.  I've been working on other projects and didn't get to this!

4.  Quilt at least two more quilts for Hurricane Sandy survivors.
Didn't get to this one either - my quilt from #1 has been on the
frame most of the week!

5.  Work on outfits for the girls.
No - but I'd better get to these soon - Lilli keeps asking about it!

6. Keep up with any quilt ministry needs that arise.
Done! We gave this quilt to a woman who had a heart attack and stint surgery…

This one went to an older woman with serious ongoing health issues…

And this one went to a young mom who had a hip replacement and is having a hard recovery.

And here's what I'm working on this week…

1.  Finish up the third giveaway quilt.

2.  Make a fourth giveaway quilt.

3.  Blog about the 30 quilts that went to Hurricane Sandy survivors this week.

4.  Quilt three quilts for Hurricane Sandy survivors.

5.  Keep up with ministry needs as they arise.

I hope I can get this much done this week - but I must work on the quilts for the giveaway, so that takes precedence over everything except ministry needs.

It's so exciting to see how people are loving these quilts - and I have to tell you a funny, sweet thing!  My daughter was sharing a picture of one of the quilts on Facebook the other day, and in her post, she said, "Seriously, my mom is a quilt rock star, and I will be sorry to see these go…."  Wow!  My daughter called me a quilt rock star!  I asked her if that meant I got a tiara, and she said no, it meant I had pink hair and a guitar…

Then I found this quilt photo on Google when I googled "quilt rock star"!  It is called "I Am a Rock Star", made and quilted by Judy Beskow.  So now I know what I need to start looking like…..  ;-)

And now, the question is - - - what are YOU working on this week?

Hugs!

Sarah

  1. I continue to work on all my on going projects and prepare kits to take with me for our upcoming trip. Seeing as I can't fit my quilting frame in the camper and do not bring a sewing machine along either I bring hand piecing and just get kits prepared in advance. Lovely quilts you are making and you do wonderful work giving away to so many

  3. Well, you are a rock star quilter - you wear the pink hair and I want neon blue. I'm going to be happily playing in my scrap buckets while it rains buckets.

  7. Your quilts are beautiful! The rock star quilt is particularly wonderful. I have become a slight fabric addict myself. My little girl just started walking, and I can't stop my self from making her adorable outfits. I love to play dress up with her.
