I May Have A Scrap Problem... Habit Building!

Hi, all!

Well, I didn't believe it was possible, but I seem to be developing a good habit!  Last week I drew my Scrap Attack monthly task, which to my chagrin was...

Aargh!  Forced to develop good habits!!  But I found this week, as I worked on some small projects and cleaned up my studio, that it is oddly satisfying to do this...

...and cut up those strips from the sides of the finished quilt...

...all of which results in an empty scrap pail on my tabletop...

...and a filling tub of pieces ready to be used...

...and here's my final week's output!

I think the thing I'm happiest with, though, is that empty red bucket (ok nearly empty but I need another plastic container for fussy cut pieces)!  The desire to keep that empty is keeping me going!

I'm also working on final choices for this year's pre-H2H quilt-along - I've decided the theme will be Scrumptious Scraps, and I'm picking out some great scrap quilt designs that are simple and fast enough for charity quilts.  I've got some great help this year, too, and I'm excited to see what they come up with.  Stay tuned for that series starting the end of January....

So now that we're ten days into the new year, how are your scrappy resolutions coming along?  Don't give up - there's always hope!!

Hugs!

Sarah

  1. I have been cutting up what is left from a project as I go. But then I have the precuts in a box ready to file into the appropriate box. That is sort of overflowing.
    Can't wait for Scrumptious Scraps.

  2. OOH,Scrumptious Scraps sounds enticing. I'll be watching too. Are we invited to use these for our H2H
    quilts as well?

  3. Scrumptious Scraps? Sounds fabulous. I'm thinking you posted what size you're cutting those scraps into, so off to hunt that down. Fabric cutting could be part of the plan to de-clutter, right? That's my story.

  4. Good job. I cut up my scraps into usable sizes. But not after a project usually when I'm swimming in them. I might have to try this way.

  6. Good progress. The nice thing about cutting up scraps from a project is that you know the fabrics all go together. That will save time in the future sorting through your stash.

  7. Good for you! I've been thinking about you as I clean up my own scraps after each project :) Looking forward to Scrumptious Scraps!

  9. Thinking I may need to take some scraps to Florida for the month of February since I would like to take part in the Scrumptious Scraps. Empty red bucket! Hmm, may need to adopt a similar strategy to control the bad case of crazy scrap problem!

  10. I have been doing something simalar. I have been cutting my smaller scraps into 1.5" squares, 2.5" squares, 1.5" x 3.5" rectangles for a scrap quilt I am working on as a leader/ender, and strips for a scrappy strip quilt for later. What sizes are you cutting your pieces into?
