It's been a really long week, hasn't it? And it's still not over yet. But - - - it's Friday, and that means we get to get our whoop whoop on!! So let's get started!
*&*&*&*&*&*&*
Last week a friend of mine asked me to help her surprise her mother-in-law for Christmas. Her MIL has been living in a nursing home since the beginning of COVID and misses all her interactions outside the home. My friend decided to do a 12-days-of-Christmas gifting for her, to give her something to look forward to, and asked if I had any nice lap quilts she could look at.
Do you remember that wonderful haul of quilting goodies I got from my friend, the one who moved to Florida? Well, in one of those boxes there was a quilt she pieced and started quilting, only to tuck it away for some reason. I'm not sure why she never finished it, but it turned out to be just the thing for this lovely lady!
Isn't that a pretty quilt? I can't believe my friend didn't finish it! But it will make a sweet older lady very happy.
My friend quilts with a much smaller meander than I do, so I had to match hers - and it gives it such lovely texture!
The backing's awfully pretty too - and made it perfect for my friend's MIL, who loves blue best of all.
And how about a roll-up shot, just because it's pretty?
So - - - can I get a whoop whoop?

And now it's your turn!
What's got you whooping it up this week?
What's making you do a little happy dance?
Share! We want to dance right along with you,
And it's always more fun to dance with friends!
The party will stay open until Sunday midnight.
Hope to see you there!
Hugs!
Sarah
Hello Sarah. Isn't it wonderful and perfect that that quilt was just waiting to be finished by you and loved by a lady who needs it?
ReplyDeleteI would link up, but the code is showing rather than the linky.
Sometimes a project just has to wait for the perfect moment and this quilt found it's perfect moment.
ReplyDeleteThis is the best gift ever, from many hands to someone who has no doubt worked with her hands for many years. The finishing quilting on those lovely fabrics, and the blues, just right, as Goldilocks would have said.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and sweet quilt! I bet it helps brighten this lady’s frame of mind. It’s got to be so tough being isolated.

Pretty quilt.
ReplyDeleteNot only is that a sweet quilt - what an awesome comfort to bring!!
ReplyDeleteJust a perfect project to gift in this way! Love the thought!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect gift! And the reason your friend did not finish it was that it was meant for a time such as this!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on making use of a portion of your friend's stash of stuff by finishing off this lovely quilt, Sarah!!
ReplyDeleteI really love the fabrics in that quilt.
ReplyDeleteIt was a long week. So fortunate you were able to manage a quilt for this lady. Well done.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely find, well done for finishing the quilt
ReplyDeleteThis was a very long week....lovely to find the perfect quilt and good job matching the stipple.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a cool story!
ReplyDeleteSerendipity! A beautiful quilt to make your friend's Mom happy :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for your friend to do this. We frequently do something similar for a chosen family at Christmas called "The Christmas Pixie." Following the "12 Days", we choose an inexpensive gift and attach a tag that says, "On the First Day of Christmas.....". We ring the doorbell and run away. The next day includes 2 gifts and the appropriate tag. Each day continues with the correct number of gifts and tag. On the 12th day, I end with a dozen Christmas cookies. We never sign the tags and deny any knowledge! But we love hearing people tell us how special this was. Just sharing a little love, especially in a year like 2020.
