Make-A-List Monday - Back On The Long Arm Again!

Hi, all!

Welcome to Monday!  I almost let it slip by - it's been weird week - but then I remembered the day and really want to share what I've been working on!  So let's see how I did on last week's list...

1.  Finish quilting a Christmas gift quilt for a friend.

Done!  This is such a sweet quilt, and I love her plan for it.

2.  Decide on a a quilting plan and quilt the reindeer quilt.

Done, and done!  I finished the binding on this one this afternoon! More pictures to come on Friday....

3.  Quilt a vintage quilt top.

Done!  This quilt was a real learning experience, but turned out wonderfully. And it's always a pleasure to save a treasure!

4.  Transfer the warranties for the old house.

Done!  That was the last thing I had to do with the sale of the old house - hooray!!

5.  Plan the quilting for the annual quilts.

I think I have a plan for all three - now just to get to it!

6.  Start thinking about vacation sewing projects.

I didn't really have a chance to do this yet.

So a pretty good week, all in all!  It was good to get back on my long arm machine again.  And I learned something today - Jolene (my long arm) has expensive taste!  I had trouble with my thread breaking repeatedly on the Christmas quilt, so I thought I'd change color for this one and see if it was the thread.  A lovely lady gifted me a large cone of white Aurifil recently, and I decided to put it on and see how it did.  Well, Jolene REALLY likes Aurifil - not one break in the whole quilt!

And here's what I'm hoping to get done this week...

1.  Quilt at least one of the annual quilts.

2.  Plan some vacation sewing!

3.  Do some cleaning and organization in the studio.

4.  Work on the next String Therapy idea.

Not a long list, but plenty to do!  I'm in the mood to clean, I think, so I may tackle the studio work first while the mood is there.  Of course, who knows what I'll feel like in the morning?

So now the question is - - -  what are YOU working on this week?

Hugs!

Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? A Sweet Finish...

Hi, all!

It's been a really long week, hasn't it?  And it's still not over yet.  But - - -  it's Friday, and that means we get to get our whoop whoop on!! So let's get started!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

Last week a friend of mine asked me to help her surprise her mother-in-law for Christmas.  Her MIL has been living in a nursing home since the beginning of COVID and misses all her interactions outside the home.  My friend decided to do a 12-days-of-Christmas gifting for her, to give her something to look forward to, and asked if I had any nice lap quilts she could look at.

Do you remember that wonderful haul of quilting goodies I got from my friend, the one who moved to Florida? Well, in one of those boxes there was a quilt she pieced and started quilting, only to tuck it away for some reason.  I'm not sure why she never finished it, but it turned out to be just the thing for this lovely lady!

Isn't that a pretty quilt? I can't believe my friend didn't finish it!  But it will make a sweet older lady very happy.

My friend quilts with a much smaller meander than I do, so I had to match hers - and it gives it such lovely texture!

The backing's awfully pretty too - and made it perfect for my friend's MIL, who loves blue best of all.

And how about a roll-up shot, just because it's pretty?

So - - - can I get a whoop whoop?

*&*&*&*&*&*&*&*

And now it's your turn!

What's got you whooping it up this week?

What's making you do a little happy dance?

Share! We want to dance right along with you,

And it's always more fun to dance with friends!

The party will stay open until Sunday midnight.

Hope to see you there!

Hugs!

Make-A-List Monday - Almost Back to Normal!

Hi, all!

It's Monday again, and the start of a week that will make history.  Already records have been set for early voting, with some states even surpassing the total number of votes cast in 2016!  If this election has done nothing else, it has inspired Americans to take up their right, privilege and responsibility and VOTE!

That being said, if you haven't voted yet, make the effort on Tuesday to go vote! The poll workers are there, volunteering their time so that you will be able to vote.  I promise you, they want nothing more than for you to be able to vote.  So check your local election commission online to see what you will need to provide as far as identification before you go.  Take a good book for the waiting time, and maybe a bottle of water.  Wear a mask, particularly if your county is under a mask mandate.  It's a mask, not a political statement.

Go prepared to wait, knowing that the poll workers are doing their best to move the lines as fast as possible.  And be kind to them!  It's a horribly long day, and they don't get to go home when the polls close.  Everything has to be shut down, cleaned up, and packed up before they can leave.

So that's what my day tomorrow will look like. But after that, all goes back to normal around here - with the wonderful benefit of not having to think about our second house!  Here's what I have on tap for this week....

1.  Finish quilting a Christmas gift quilt for a friend.

2.  Decide on a a quilting plan and quilt the reindeer quilt.

3.  Quilt a vintage quilt top.

4.  Transfer the warranties for the old house.

5.  Plan the quilting for the annual quilts.

6.  Start thinking about vacation sewing projects.

I've got a bunch of quilt tops ready for quilting, and Jolene is raring to go, once I have the time.  I'm kind of looking forward to getting back in my usual rhythm!

We've also got a vacation coming up at the end of November, and since it's close, I'll probably be taking my sewing machine and a project or two!  Probably something for the String Therapy series (coming up in January) so I need to start working on kits for that.

Looks like I've got plenty to keep me busy and out of trouble this week - now the question is, what are YOU working on this week?

Hugs!
