Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? Lots Going On!

Hi, all!

Well, here it is, Friday again, can you believe it?  The weeks are just flying by, it seems.  But Friday means it's time for us to get our whoop whoop on, so let's get started!

First up is this t-shirt quilt for a young man who just lost his dad unexpectedly.  One of his mom's friends commissioned this quilt and I was honored to be part of its story.

Pretty blues make this a cheerful quilt, and one I hope he will enjoy for many years to come.

I love the texture simple straight line quilting gives a t-shirt quilt!

And then I finished this quilt.  

This was fairly quick and easy - the customer had already made the top, and provide the backing (minky) and an old flannel sheet to use in place of batting.  All I had to do was quilt it and bind it.  This is the fourth t-shirt quilt I have finished for her - one for each of her grandchildren!

And then I got busy cutting out Harry Potter blocks for Lilli's annual quilt....

Hagrid...

Hedwig...

Snape...

..and Professor McGonagall!

And I even got a chance to pull fabrics for a Plaid-ish quilt - Lilli helped! - and got them all cut and ready to take on vacation!  Unfortunately it didn't make a dent in my 5" squares drawer, though.

And just for fun, here's picture of my sweet puppy, Fly!  She won't usually pose for pictures, but the day I was taking pics of the first t-shirt quilt, she just sat there and smiled!

I May Have A Scrap Problem... But Here's Some Inspiration!

Hi, all!

Last Thursday I received an email from one of you wonderful readers, checking to see if I was okay because I hadn't posted on Wednesday!  With that in mind, how could I miss another week just because I didn't do any scrappy sewing this week?  But, while I didn't get to do any scrap-busting, I did spend some time on Instagram and found some totally amazing inspiration.  So now I'm going to live up to my title of The Great Enabler and share with you!

This is a simple quilt, but so cute!  

And a great way to use up strings, too.

This is a simple block to make a lot of quickly - it's basically a signature block - but so cute in colors!

And oh, I do love this scrappy quilt - and so clever to echo the center panel with the colors of the 25-patch blocks!

Another great way to use up strings!  Lots of work in these blocks, but they are so interesting to look at...

I don't think I have the skill to make a quilt like this, but I sure do enjoy looking at them, don't you?

Sharon, this quilt is so.much.fun!!  I love all these little houses and want to make a neighborhood of my very own!

Another simple block, but doesn't it make a great scrap quilt?

Don't you just LOVE this quilt?  And be sure to zoom in and see all the fabulous quilting.  It is a small quilt, but MIGHTY!

I saved this picture because I wanted to be sure to remember the power of color choice.  Which block catches your eye the most?  For me, it's the second from the top on the left.  The dark centers in the stars make a serious change in the block and give it a whole new dynamic!

I love this bright, happy quilt.  Once again, it's simple but a great way to use up some of those hoarded scraps!

The person who made this quilt called it the UGLY quilt.  I couldn't disagree more!  I love the movement in this stack-and-slash quilt, and really want to make one of my own....

And speaking of quilts I want to make for myself, this beauty has got me dreaming of pickle dish blocks!  

And last but definitely not least, Preeti's beautiful Eggs and Bacon quilt! A magnificent use of scraps, and quite an accomplishment - and don't miss the quilting!  I've done that circular quilting on a small wall hanging, and give all the props to Preeti for sticking with it all the way to the end!

And now, all I have to say is - - - go forth and scrap!

Make-A-List Monday - Progress, and Another Busy Week!

Hi, all!

After a busy week and weekend, Monday has rolled around again and another week has begun!  And it's August - can you believe it?  This year has seemed both interminable and like it's flying by, both at the same time.  I don't understand that, but I bet many of you feel the same way.

Let's see - last week I had a few things on my list, like making some see-through masks for friends...

These went to a family in Georgia...

...and these were made for my grandkids' school interpreter!

I also had on my list to make and finish a t-shirt quilt for a customer, and I finished that this afternoon!  More pictures to come on Friday, but here's my proof that I finished it!

I had on my list to start cutting and packaging up some blocks for Lilli's annual quilt, and I got two cut out - Ron and Harry....

...and this afternoon, I took some time after finishing the customer quilt and added Ron to the gang...

...and started working on Harry!  Harry's block is more intricate than all except Luna's so far, so I didn't quite get it finished before I had to cook supper, but it should be a quick finish tomorrow morning.

AND I wrote the tutorial for the see-through masks, which you can find here if you are interested.  It is a long and picture-heavy post, but I think it makes them do-able for anyone with some sewing experience!  

The one thing I didn't get to last week was quilting the other customer quilt (it's a quilting job only).  But I did look at it today in preparation and it appears that I'll be able to use width of the fabric for the back, with no seams.  Hooray!!!  And that's the first thing on my list for this week.

Next up will be finishing Harry's block, and cutting out some more of them.  These blocks are so much fun to make - Lorna did a fabulous job with the instructions.  I still have Hagrid, Snape, McGonagall, Hedwig, and Hogwarts to cut out and assemble, so that's plenty to keep me busy this week.

I also need to spend some time looking over the pattern for the dinosaur quilt for Nathanael.  I hope it's as well written and easy as Lorna's patterns!  If time allows, I'll get started cutting out some of these blocks to save for vacation.

I also want to spend some time with each of the grandkids, one on one, this week.  Summer is over, and they will be starting school (albeit at home with distance learning) next week.  So one last fling with each of them is in order!  

Plenty to keep me out of trouble this week, and if I get through all this, I'm sure I can find something else to get into!
