Make-A-List Monday - 330 Quilts in 356 Days!?!?!?!

Hi, all!

Okay, it's the third Monday of 2014 - how many of you are still working on your goals, and how many have completely given up already?  I've been working on mine but I suddenly became fixated on this one - "Reach the 1000 quilts given away mark - 330 more"  I realized that to hit that mark, we'll need to give away almost one quilt per day this year!  We've given away fourteen already in January, with four more requested at the moment, so we're not far off that mark.  It will be interesting to see how this one works out!

But right now let's see how last week's goals list went...

1.  Finish piecing the ministry top I'm working on.
2.  Quilt and bind that top.
Done and done! Let me present "Briar Rose"

3.  Write two posts for the Piece*Love*Quilt blog.
Done! You can read about them by clicking on the title below the picture…

"A Quilt For Amanda"

 "Just When It Was Needed"

4.  Write something for the book and prepare a blogpost for Wednesday.
Done!  You can read the post here.  I'd love to have your input if you haven't chimed in already!

5.  Piece together some orphan house blocks into a quilt top for the ministry.
Done!  I just love the way this came together - the small house blocks came from one person, the center "watercolor" house came from another - but they all play so well together!

6.  Quilt at least two other quilts for the ministry.
Done!   These two "sister" quilts were made from some BOMs originally intended to be one quilt, but were turned into two instead.  They already have new homes!

7.  Keep up with any quilt ministry needs that arise.
Done!  I quilted one baby quilt, did the binding on another, and yesterday quilted a large quilt for a woman just diagnosed with lymphoma and given a very short time to live.

Busy week!  I have a feeling this one will be just as busy, but with the cold weather moving back in, it should be easy to stay inside and sew!  So here's this week's list…

1.  Finish a ministry quilt for a woman with melanoma.

2.  Finish a ministry quilt for a woman who just had
open heart surgery.

3.  Finish a ministry quilt for a woman with lung cancer.

4.  Work on another part of the book and post it on Wednesday.

5.  Determine how to finish two beautiful vintage hand-made tops that were donated to the quilt ministry (story to come on the Piece*Love*Quilt blog!)

6.  Write one or two posts for the new blog.

7.  Try to get one of the vacation quilts quilted using techniques from Judi Madsen's new book (a 2014 goal!)

8.  Keep up with any ministry needs that arise.

Whew!  I think that's enough to keep me out of trouble, don't you?

So now the real question - - - what are YOU working on this week?

Hugs!

Sarah

  2. I really like the house quilt. As always you make me tired with all the thongs on your list. I am quilting on a quilt that will become a prayer quilt.

  3. You are amazing! And make me tired just reading about all the smiles you generate. God bless you for accepting this mission and for sharing your quilts with all of us.

  4. I wish I lived closer to you. We are kindred spirits. You sound as busy as I am. Seems that as soon as I get a quilt finished, there are requests for three more. I wish I could find a way to quilt in my sleep or win the lottery so I could quilt my job, but then I wouldn't hear about all the quilt needs. I teach high school and so many of the quilts I make go to the kids at my high school. So obviously God has me where I"m needed. Praying for you for strength and to keep warm as you work.
