Can I Get a Whoop Whoop? Finally Gifted!

Hi, all!

Well, it's finally Friday - and having just finished working the early voting polls Thursday evening, I can really appreciate Friday!!  It's been a long fifteen days!  That being said, though, we all know what Friday means - it's time for us to get our whoop whoop on and wow and I ready!  So let's get started!

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

Here's my first whoop whoop of the week...

That blue envelope contains the closing documents for our old house!

I'll miss this beautiful old house, but I'm so happy that a young couple has bought it and plans to start their family there!

And to start them off in a proper fashion, we gifted them with this quilt as their first housewarming present....

You probably remember all the teaser shots I shared as I worked on this pretty quilt. It's a simple postage stamp quilt, pieced in strip sets.

Simple cross-hatch straight line quilting gives it great texture.

And I'm absolutely in love with this marbled rose colored backing, which matched the roses in the prints perfectly.

So - - - can I get a whoop whoop?

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

And now it's your turn!

What's got you whooping it up this week?

What's making you do a little happy dance?

Share!  We want to dance right along with you,

And it's always more fun to dance with friends!

The party will stay open until Sunday midnight.

Hope to see you there!

Hugs!

Sarah

  13. How sweet of you to give a housewarming quilt to the young people who bought your house! I can hardly think of anything nicer! The people who bought our house when we moved weren’t a real family, but investors who promptly turned our old duplex into a one family house, and put it back on the market for a lot more money. It had new kitchen and bathrooms, which it probably needed and an entirely different layout on the inside so I couldn’t at all recognize it from the realtor’s photos, but looked pretty much the same from the outside.
So there was no love lost for them! Fortunately, we had been gone from it and the state for six years by then, so it didn’t really matter. When we moved we couldn’t sell the house at all and we had to rent it out for six years until the market improved before we could sell it. Luckily, we were financially able to do that as we were moving to a much cheaper market, from Atlanta to rural Kentucky, and didn’t have much of a mortgage left on the Atlanta house as we’d lived there a long time.
If it had happened immediately after we left the house, it might really have hurt my feelings as I loved the house and had some of the best years of my life there. But by the time it happened I’d been gone so long and was happily settled in my new home and was just happy finally to sell the Atlanta house, get our money out of it, and no longer have to worry about having to rent it.
So happy for you that it’s done and you’re well settled in your new place.

  14. You have earned some more stars in your crown. What a nice idea especially for a young couple just starting out. It's a beautiful quilt. I really like the cross hatching you've done. Thank you for working the polls. Do you go back election day? It's going to be a long day for many of the poll workers.
