Can I Get a Whoop Whoop? Success!

Hi, all!

Well, it's Friday again, and we all know what that means - it's time for us to get our whoop whoop on!  Are you ready?  Let's go!

It's been a weird and disjointed week for me, with lots of plans having to be sidelined because of things that came up.  BUT...

....we did finally manage to get the foyer light fixture up!  It's kind of a funny story - we ordered it soon after moving in, but by the time it arrived, the COVID hibernation had begun and we didn't want to call in an electrician.  Well, about a month ago, things started looking better, so we called an electrician who quoted us an exorbitant price to install a light I could put in myself if I only had a tall enough ladder.  Since his quote was more than the cost of the ladder, we decided to go buy one ourselves.  It took three weeks to arrive, but now I finally have a nice fixture in the foyer that matches wonderfully with our furnishings.  The previous light was "shiny" as my youngest granddaughter liked to say (she adored it) but crystals and shiny silver are not my cup of tea!

I also started working on a commission job for my son-in-law - he works for a local audiologist and requested thirty see-through masks for their offices.  Just before I started on his job, I saw a post on Instagram by @chezvies and realized that her mask pattern, with a little tweaking, would work perfectly!

And not only that, but the designer gave me permission to do a tutorial on my blog to share the technique for anyone else who needs it.  So that will be forthcoming in the next week or so.

I've finished nineteen of the masks, so I've still got eleven to make, but I'm excited that they've worked so well.  It's a little finicky but totally do-able.  I've been making them production line style, so I don't know how long each is taking to make, but I have one more to make in the smaller size, so I'll probably make that one from start to finish and time it just for fun.  And I've learned some tricks in the past few weeks and tries at mask making that I'll share in the tutorial!

So that's been my week so far!
Can I get a whoop whoop?

And now it's your turn!

What's got you whooping it up this week?

What's making you do a little happy dance?

Share!  We want to dance right along with you,

And it's always more fun to dance with friends!

The party will stay open until Sunday midnight.

Hope to see you there!

  1. Congratulations on installing your light fixture. That's a great accomplishment. And I look forward to the mask tutorial. I'm surprised I haven't seen these more often. I think it's a great idea that'll be a big hit.

  2. It's amazing how much services like that cost! Luckily you were able to tackle the project and get it done. And who doesn't need a new ladder?!

  3. I like this see thru mask idea!! I am surprised at how much I read lips to understand people, and now.... I am left asking Huh? ... great idea you have there!!

  4. I like your new light fixtures :-)
Great job on the masks. and thank you for the great links here to all the quilty goodness. It prompted me to finally get some pictures of quilt progress and actually do a post. Crazy how long it takes me. HA!

  5. Love the foyer light and the story behind it! And your lip-reading friendly masks are turning out so great :)

  6. Your foyer light fixture looks great and those masks are fantastic! I assume they are for health professionals whose patients need to be able to read lips, but I'll bet they would also be comforting to patients in pediatric wards right now. All of those doctors and nurses in masks would not be as scary if the kids could see the smiles through a window.

  7. Wow well done on your mask making enterprise!

Comments make me smile!! If you want a PDF of a pattern, PLEASE leave your email address in your comment, or email me directly at salliesue57 (at) gmail (dot) com!
