Hi, all!It has been quite a week, hasn't it? Sometimes, though, I find that sewing can help smooth over the rough edges of tumultuous times. So lots of sewing got done here at my house this week! And finding the joy in small things is always good, so let's do a little whooping!
*&*&*&*&*&*&*
This week I have been working on the prototype quilts for this year's tutorial series, String Therapy. On Monday, I started a new quilt, dipping into my blue string bin (which ranneth over), and by the Wednesday morning it was almost finished. As I worked on the final piecing, I reflected on the Senate races in Georgia and realized that I was glad I was working on a blue quilt. And the name of this quilt became clear in my mind....
Meet "Georgia On My Mind"!
The completing of this quilt top helped calm my spirit as I disbelievingly watched the horrible events of later that day unfold. I pressed the final seam in the top just as they were calling the second Senate race for Ossoff. But it will forever reflect, for me, both emotions of that day. Quilts are always more than just fabric, aren't they?
On a happier note, the line-up of prototype quilts is starting to fill up...
...with the next one on the wall, in progress!
So - - - can I get a whoop whoop?
*&*&*&*&*&*&*
And now it's your turn!
What's got you whooping it up this week?
What's making you do a little happy dance?
Share! We want to dance right along with you,
And it's always more fun to dance with friends.
The party will stay open until Sunday midnight.
Hope to see you there!
Hugs!
Sarah
I like this blue string quilt alot! It's like a feast from crumbs.
ReplyDeleteIf I were to make a quilt on Wednesday, it would most definitely have had to be a blue one. Red is certainly not my colour. Your Georgia On My Mind quilt is lovely.
ReplyDeleteLove that blue quilt!!!
ReplyDeleteLoving your Georgia quilt piece--it is really pretty. You used great colors in this--definitely a memory quilt of these times...hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteI like the design of this quilt, and you sure can whip a quilt up quickly!
ReplyDeleteYour focus in the middle of all this turmoil is an inspiration! Your blue strings birthed a beauty!
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your "Georgia On My Mind" quilt and look forward to this year's String Therapy. I have plenty of strings to use.
ReplyDeleteYou sure can--how beautiful--both the completed top and the new one on the design wall!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right....quilts are always more that just fabric. The blue one I was working on now has a bigger meaning.
ReplyDeleteGeorgia on My Mind is a beautiful quilt! Thank you for reminding of that bit of good news, which was so hastily obscured by the insurrection at the Capitol.

ReplyDeletePrototypes... Looking SEW good, Sarah!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat name for a great quilt.
ReplyDeleteNice, happy quilts. Unfortunately, not a lot to do a happy dance going on in our world this week!
ReplyDelete"Georgia" turned out beautifully! And your next prototype looks like a great one, too!
ReplyDeleteYes, your working on the blue quilt will forever answer for you the question, “Where were you when...?“ We’ve had too many of those moments in our history. But I’m glad you were honoring Georgia when its news was lost in the middle of the horrors going on.
